I guess this means the "Dawgs" need to score 50 points to achieve the victory on August 30. I feel that the "Dawgs" only need 17 points to win, as previously predicted (17 to 14).

    Go Dawgs!

I live in Plano, Texas (since 1974, after moving here from upstate New York). Grew up in Clara, Mississippi, but my parents were from Attala County, Mississippi (McAdams & Sallis). My first cousin played football, defensive back, for Ole Miss, and is now a doctor, and his father (my uncle) played running back for Mississippi State and then Delta State. This uncle's grandson played baseball (pitcher and first baseman) for the Rice Owls for the last three years and was drafted, as a pitcher, in the first round of the major league draft this summer.

    Where do you live?

    Go Dawgs!

That is pretty cool, I live in Columbia. My sister used to live in Plano, and now she lives in the Woodlands, (outside of Houston)

You have a great looking grandson. I have a four year old grandson and a one year old granddaughter by my youngest daughter.

I did not mention it previously, but "Clara" is in Wayne County, Misissippi (Waynesboro is the County Seat). I have a brother in Purvis, Mississippi. My first cousin who played for the Rice Owls baseball team, went to Lamar High School in Bellaire (in the Houston area). He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies this summer, skipping his upcoming senior year at Rice. But as a first round selection, a good move.

    Go Dawgs!

Thanks for the comments about my grandson, I appreciate it. It is my first. We are real proud of him, he is real tiny though, he was almost 7 weeks early, and of course he will be a  fan, his first words will probably be
    GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering where Clara was, I do know where Waynesboro is, we have traveled there for a football game before. And my husband plays golf in Purvis sometimes.

How about we get back on topic in this thread:

1998 may have been Sherrill’s best year at State. But things, coaches and programs have changed. In 1998 State faced LSU/Dinardo (the year the program imploded after the Georgia loss and Gerry did not finish out the 1999 season); Alabama/Dubose (there always seemed to be rumors swirling around the program); Arkansas/Nutt (first year and not much in the cupboard); Ole Miss/Tuberville (final game before he bolted to Auburn); and Auburn had Little Bowden resign and Brother Oliver take over as a lame duck coach for the last 5 or 6 games (what a mess that year was for the Plainsmen). This was also in the days that Alabama was the only West Division Program good enough to get past the Conference Championship Game and that has certainly changed.

Now don’t get me wrong, I think overall the program at State is in better hands with Croom at the helm and State may be as good as or even better than they were in 1998. However, LSU/Miles; Alabama/Saban; Auburn/Tuberville; are all much better and more stable than in 1998; and Arkansas/Nutt is a more talented team than they were in 1998, and not by just a little bit. The jury is in on Coach Oh No, and everyone but Ole Miss knows it.

I think it is great for ClaraDawg to be excited and to be posting on this board to generate interest in the game. If I were a State fan I hope I could be as positive (I sure wasn’t that positive when Curley was at LSU, but I think a lot more of Coach Croom as a coach and as a person than I ever would of Curley). All in all, I just don’t see the Maroon Dawgs in Atlanta in December.

I stick by my original prediction for the game –
    LSU – 36
    MSU - 3
