If we had a legitimate point guard this team would probably be pretty good and leading the west. But we don't. And who is at fault for that?
simply a case of a player thinking he had to make the play, feeling the pressure of carrying the team, trying too hard to make sure no one else screwed up or blew it. he's an all-ameican for a reason, he stepped up in the 2nd half of the ark. game and tried to be the difference maker at the end. it just didn't work out.
the huge turnover difference was very predictable for this game---it wasnt going to turn out any differently. OM has many quick, experienced ball handlers. LSU has none (maybe mason). bashers should give cjb & team credit for playing with such offensive efficiency. what, would you rather lose by 15 because the shoot 40%. lsu played very well AGAIN and lost. that's not coaching, thats matchups and luck and personnel. glen screwed up on the last play, im sure he's said so postgame. he didnt receive the inbounds pass, but at least 2 passes later. its common to get it to a bigman at midcourt to break the press. perhaps he was concerned about 10 sec? need to check time remaining at inbounds. anyway, youre giving this play too much importance. no more important than any other T.O. resulting in 2pts for OM. FT shooting in 2nd half was the least forgiveable reason for loss. lsu played well. im looking forward to the rest of the games.
I disagree? I don't mind giving Brady credit for his strong points and I am now neutral on Brady, actually on Brady's side saying we might as well keep him if we aren't going to put any money into the basketball program like others have said meaning LSU will ALWAYS be a FOOTBALL school. I love LSU basketball just as much as football and believe the basketball program is just as rich in history as football. Matter of fact before Saban the basketball program was actually better. Having said all this the pro-Brady people bash the bashers and give credit to Brady while IGNORING his shortcomings such as he doesn't recruit guards often enough and most of the ones he do recruit wouldn't start at most top 25 programs. I am not bashing Brady or anyone but it is rather obvious we are always a guard or two short every year. Its not about coaching or matchups, Its about your first point! LSU has 0 guards and certainly no point who can handle the ball like a rock in critical circumstances. That has no Luck to it, it is a recruiting issue. Katrina didn't effect this year by Augustine going to Texas. Minor didn't effect this year by his problems. Brady did by recruiting kids with problems and putting all his eggs in one basket. Having said that Brady is the man and might as well be here 20 years because we aren't a basketball school as much as I wish we were.
http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/5800306.html Brady is ultimately responsible but you can see what has lead to this predicament in the article. I can't say I'd fully blame him for the lack of a true point. If Katrina doesn't send Augustin to live in Texas I'd bet he would be wearing Purple and Gold now.
Some would dispute that. The truth is, we don't know if he would be at LSU if there was no katrina. But that was last year. Who do we have coming in this year to help us at PG next season? No excuse not to sign a real PG this season. We can't wait for Mason-Griffin in '09.
