It may be youth talking, or the fact that I am lucky to have my college 100% paid for and am very loyal to the school...

If I really offended someone, I am sorry

I do wish him the besto f luck of course

THe thing that baffles me the most about this situation is that, given what happened to Alley just a few days ago, you truely ARE "just a play away"--either from getting injured, but from a back-ups standpoint, a play away from being "the guy".

JV got to be "the guy" two seasons ago with injuries to Addai and Carey and look what he did with his situation. Even with Amp's OWN injury, early playing time was awarded to Doucet and Carter.

The thing that bother's me about, what I feel is a premature decision on his part, was that THIS is the year that he's FINALLY 100%. CERTAINLY Amp isn't upset that he only played 20 plays in two years because up until now, he wasn't physically ready. And even now, whether he likes the circumstances or not, he's behind Skyler, Bowe, Davis, Early and Carter in terms of reps because those guys weren't injured.

You can't exactly fault Miles and staff either because unlike the rest of the WR group, he doesn't even have much film on Amp and only has but one Spring worth of watching a WR who's "easing" his way back into full-speed action. Hardly a situation that would allow a new coach enough info to say, "yeah, you're gonna start" or "you're gonna see a lot of action".

IMO, Amp's health, and his knee's response to full-speed action as the season progressed would have determined how much he saw the field this fall.

And like someone else pointed out, if he transfers to another D1 school, he loses another year seeing has he already burned his redshirt during his initial injury season.

I wish him the best and I'm saddened at not getting to see him reach his potential in an LSU uniform, but I can't help but feel that he's making a decision to leave his teammates based on a situation that revolves around his own body.... And it's NOT like THIS is his Jr. season and he's worried about playing. He's STILL a Soph! There are LOTS of Soph players across the country, at other programs, that aren't going to play a whole lot. Hell, MOST players--even the really good ones like Amp Hill, don't get their shot at playing until their Jr....OR even their Sr. year.

Every player that has mentioned Amp's name so far has always pointed out that he would have made an impact. Every media publication that has mentioned his name stated the same. ...it was all up to Amp and his own knee that would determine how much, and how soon he would play. Then again, an injury to one of his now former teammate receivers could have pushed him into increased playing time sooner as well.....Hope our WR's stay healthy, because I feel that with his departure, we're not as deep as we all thought we would be.

Here's an idea: maybe he's transferring because he knows, deep down, that he's still not 100%.

So? Well, he can play sparingly this season at less than 100%, make zero progress up the depth chart next season and have one less year of eligibility in which to catch the eyes of NFL scouts or he can quit, transfer to another program where he'll get PT and do the mandatory sit-out to become eligible next year and have another year to fully heal.

This way, he masks the fact that he's not 100% by using the, "I wasn't getting PT at LSU and had to sit out a year" excuse. Quitting eliminates the chances of him getting some PT this year and "wasting" a year of eligibility, and I'm sure somebody decent will give him a shot during the offseason and get him a scholly.

Timing sucks, IMO, but what can you do. He busted his ass to get back onto the field and, once he got close to 100%, realized he just wasn't good enough to get onto the field regularly, so he did what he thought was right for him and any sort of NFL hopes he holds dear.

Well, one things for sure, this situation certainly opens up the door for more WR recruits that what we originally thought we would need/ like to sign for this class....

Thanks Tino for the scoop every since last year.
I wish nothing but the best for Amp, I will root for him because he is an underdog.
What I mean by this is he is coming off of a pretty serious injury.
I thank him for choosing LSU in the first place and maybe he will be better off since
our team is so deep at wide receiver.
Heck, if we had too, we could put Joesph Addai at receiver.

I really respect Tino and Amp and wish them nothing but the best. :thumb: :geauxtige

Btw, It does really sadden me to see him geaux, I was so looking forward to
seeing him have success this year along with AB.
The season can't get here soon enough, I pray that this isn't a sign of things
    to come this year.
Sometimes these things never seem to end once they start. :dis:

Tino03, thanks for your report. I can one thing and that is any Tigah fans that has a good friend that is a football player should use your example to learn how to act with and around other LSU fans. You have always been a gentleman and have not once tried to act like you are all that.

As for Amp, this was shocking after being interviewed and being so positive only 2 days before. I hate to see him make this decision and lose yet another year of eligibility.

Marcus Randall, with his limited qb skills, waiting until he was a senior to become "the man", and he didnt even get that label then... Its all a matter of what your priorities are... Bowe, Davis, Green, and Brazell will be gone when Amp is a senior... Doucet, Carter, Lafell will be around... If Amp is 100%, he can get 3rd or at least second in this group (he will never be as good as Doucet)... If his priority is to be the #1 guy, then he better head for USF, UCF, FIU, FAU, or d-1AA, because FSU, UF, and Miami will be the same situation but he will have to learn a new offense as well...
