Look, you may have an interest in the guy since you are an LSU supporter. But he's our boss and directly impacts our careers and our everyday operations. We have a quite different persective than an outsider. We've gone through administrative changes before and sometimes the new guy doesn't work out so well (read: Jim Wharton, Bud Davis). I'm in a research department and I think O'Keefe will be good for my operation. But I have many friends and colleagues who have reservations about him and I respect their views. He will be given a chance certainly and he will not be greeted "frostily" (he's our boss, amigo!). But he has something to prove to a lot of people who are vital to this University. He may prove to be just right for us, I hope he does. But for you to flippantly characterize those people with reservations as "braniacs" and "nerds" is foolish. You're a smart fellow, Jetstorm, but the people you criticize know a whole lot more about how LSU works than you do, they care a whole lot more, and they are a lot more serious about it. And they're pretty smart, as well. I don't know what you do for a living, but if I thought I knew more about your business than the career employees working there, and if I also called them rude names and suggested that they were somehow wrong in having an honest opinion about their boss based on experience . . . Well, you might be defensive, too. If one takes a shot at somebody, he may get return fire. You haven't hurt my feelings, I didn't take it personally and I actually support O'Keefe. But I did think your derogatory comments about LSU faculty in general deserved contradiction.
