Valid points, big 12 is all about Offense and Okie light has a damn good one. I'd take Mason Rudolph over any QB the SEC has produced in the last 10 years. They can score almost at will. We will find out a lot about the gooners this week when they play TCU.
My Dad worked in the oil well service industry and got transferred to Oklahoma City in the early '70s. I used to enjoy watching OU play Texas & Nebraska. Damn good games and damn good coaches. Oh, and having Keith Jackson call the game wasn't bad.
The old Big 8 conference, I think. That was back in the days were they only showed 1 or 2 games on Saturday, so we only got to see Nebraska/OU once a year, right after Thanksgiving, because both were usually in the top 5. Used to love watching Billy Sims. Barry Sanders came on a little later in the 80s, but I would have loved to see him in college. The year he won the Heisman, he had over 2600+ yards rushing and 37 TDs in the regular season. He added another 200 and change with 5 TDs in their bowl game, so counting that, he rushed for 2850 yards and 42 TDs, which is ridiculous Xbox numbers. Thankfully, his highlights from that season are available on youtube.
Was it Big 8 or SWAC? I think Ark left the SWAC for the SEC and that brought about the Big 8 right? Or do I have that twisted up.
Almost. They left the Southwest Conference SWC for the SEC, while Texas, aTm, and a couple of other teams left to join the Big 8; which turned it into the Big 12. After that, the SWC folded. The SWAC is for the traditionally black schools, like Grambling Alcon St. etc.
