I thought Pete Carroll had first dibs on football players with Samoan names. Then Hawaii gets the remainder. Even if he likes LSU, I'm not sure he has a say in the matter. I'm sure it's in PC's double-secret contract, somewhere...

My guess is it might be down to BYU and LSU.

USC does land a fair amount of Islanders. I'm not certain where we stand with Xavier. We had such a huge Oline class last year but you can never have too many of the big uglies. USC has had some success with them including those who are Mormon. For instance, Steve Sarkisian who played at BYU under Norm Chow is Mormon as well and is the recruiting contact with Mante Te'O from Hawaii. It's a negotiation process as some kids want to take their mission mid-stream and that rarely works for any football program. Others are more open to delaying it until after college. Here's a nice article on Xavier and John Martinez.

I do not ask this as some kind of wise crack, but is he a Mormon?

Because that may make a difference in BYU's case.

I can't find it right now, but I think someone confirmed that S'ua Filo is a Mormon, but the other fella is not.
