Yep. We were receiver light. This is when they moved Reed to receiver if I remember correctly.

Not exactly. Remember, you don't always HAVE to hire a head coach from a talent pool of unemployed coaches...or coordinators.

Miles was hired away from OSU.

I really think that the people we will be interested in will not be going at any of the vacancies.

I would like to believe you, but I don't know if I can. Ol' Stanley hasn't exactly exhibited grade-A cunning when conducting a coaching search, I doubt his ability to pull off something like this. I'm not knocking Miles with that previous statement, just commenting on how poorly he went about the coaching search.

What makes you so confident in your theory? Is it just a hunch, or is it based on anything factual? I'm just curious.

Re: Officially had it with CLM

99, I was not commenting about the quote that you posted, but a completely different comment. Here is what I said, based on hearing it on the radio while I was driving, and typing it about a half hour later: ..."I know everyone's upset about the opportunity we lost, but you need to understand our priority was first to win the SEC West, and then the conference."

Here's the exact quote as Carl Dubois wrote it (I assume he had a tape recorder): “Certainly there’ll be some disappointment off some goals that were left behind beyond last Friday, but I think everybody in this building will come to recognize that when you start the season out, you play first and foremost for the (SEC) West and secondly for the conference championship, and that opportunity is still before this team.”

I don't think I was that far off, and my reaction was NOT to the CLM comment you posted, which was not part of the radio story. As for that quote, no one should ever say the SEC championship is not important. Its always a goal to strive for, but sometimes that's the best we can hope for. Certainly no one was angry that we didn't win the NC when we won the SECCG in 2000. And I really don't think any Tiger fans would have seen it as a failing of the coach or team had the BCS poll not fallen in our favor in '03. I just believe there were greater expectations this year, they were realistic expectations (as opposed to the Kool Aid drinkers who believe we should win the NC every year), and I was disappointed to hear the coach downplay those expectations after we fell short.

I've preached that up here until I'm blue in the face. All anyone seems to remember is one game as interim HC.

    Re: BO PELINI

Im thinking the interview didnt go as well as some thought it would. Tom Osborne didn't get that warm fuzzy and is now interviewing other candidates. It doesn't appear Pelini is going to be a quick choice although I cant see Nebraska waiting beyond the end of this week. I still think it happens within the next 48 hours. There is way too much going on in the coaching world for them to wait and possibly lose a good candidate to another team. Of course none of this means he may not come back to Pelini but as of right now I think he's still exploring his options.

    Re: BO PELINI

There is a Poster on the NU boards that guarantees Bo will be the next coach (although he won't commit to my trip to Vegas and wager if he's wrong). He claims to know someone on the "inside". I hope he's wrong for two reasons:

    1. He's a jerk on the board
    2. Pelini is wrong for Nebraska

With that being said, if Bo is the choice, I will have no choice but to throw 100% of my support behind him and hope he proves me wrong.
