Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus How many of those 6 interceptions were really a result of Russell's poor decision making and not a result of a tipped pass? Also, why are we only using the three road games so far this year to sum up his abilities? Are those he only three games he's played in his career at LSU? Why do the others not count? Some stats hide flaws, some stats do not. Completion percentage does not hide flaws. I don't care who you are, 70% completions is fantastic. 99% of college QB's will never complete 70% of their passes in a year against anyone. It's even more impressive when you consider that most strong-armed QB's suffer from a higher than normal percentage of dropped passes. He's a playmaker. Without him we're complaining about all the "3 and outs" the offense does agasint top ten teams...
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus As long as we are speculating, what's better? 3 and outs or 4 turnovers with the opponent scoring 20 points off?
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus Great question. Best comparison is Matt Mauck in the 2003 season. He was a great game manager. But in the Florida game, it was 3 and out all day long. And we lost, even though our defense played almost flawlessly until the 4th quarter, when we had to take chances and make plays (thus the breakdown in coverage late in the game that put it out of reach). So with Flynn at the helm, maybe that's what we would have gotten at Auburn, at the very least.
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus So, are we to infer that Flynn never threw an interception, got sacked, fumbled or threw an incomplete pass?
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus Because 10% of those completions are to the opposing team.
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus Answer = 2. Only two of the six in question did not hit a receiver in the hands. Answer = Because apparently some of these guys think JR was the deciding factor in who we put on our schedule. And if they used all of the games he has played in, their argument would look rather foolish.
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus Why would anyone "ream" you for this? It's absolutely, 100% correct. It's why he should stay next season but, just like he does when he fumbles during a goal line QB sneak or a "WTF?"-inducing unforced INT, he'll piss off thousands of LSU fans and go pro...and take a near-certain, preseason top 3 ranking for LSU with him.
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus That is not fact. That is a guess. Thru NOv 4th, 229 passes 7 int's =10% I don't thinks so.
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus Some people seem to believe that because Flynn is white and mobile (similar to Mauck) he will be this fantastic game manager that wins every single game while not necessarily putting up big numbers.
Re: Here's a good encapsulation of how I feel about Jamarcus With our defense? The turnovers, especially since they're a result of being tipped for the most part (ie. bad luck). A #1 defense will stop the opposing team from scoring more often than not and get the ball back to you. Turnovers are unacceptable if they are made because the QB is not taking care of the ball and that's just not the case. Bottom line: You go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win. Unfortunately for Flynn, we don't have a month to prepare for each game.
