1. that lead singer went on to have a decent career with another band ;)
  2. Sugarloaf - Green Eyed Lady

I spent some time in Colorado in the 70's and Sugarloaf seemed to be the opening band for every big time act in the area. I saw them open for Grateful Dead in the park in Boulder, for Richie Haven and for Steve Miller in Denver and for Jethro Tull at Red Rocks

  3. I saw Sugarloaf at the Peacock Club in Marksville in 1973. They weren't playing arenas anymore but they were clearly surprised to find themselves in a semi-dump coonass bar in Louisiana and they let the crowd know it. Somebody flipped a lit cigarette at the bass player and he came into the audience after me. Admittedly, I was a teenager in a crowd of serious tough guys and probably looked like a victim. But this was what the audience was waiting for and they jumped on him, slapped him around a bit and pushed him back onto the bandstand. Surprisingly they played the rest of the set and quit fucking with the audience.
  4. More Baton Rouge One Hit Wonders

Louisiana Leroux - New Orleans Ladies

Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman

Ernie K Doe - Mother-in-Law Ernie did have a few other songs that still get some sporadic airplay but I think Mother-in-Law was the only hit

  5. These guys were pretty good. I saw them a couple of times

    The Youngbloods - Get Together

  6. I never realized that there were so many

    Devo - Whip It

  7. I never heard those other songs on the radio
  8. really? the last 2 got lots of MTV air play.
  9. Coonie is right. Both "Nobody Said It Was Easy" and "Take a Ride on a Riverboat" charted higher than "New Orleans Ladies" which was a regional hit. Not a one-hit wonder.
