One reason I am not sad to see Saban go.

All I can say is that it has been pretty obvious that we have had QB problems for most, if not all, of the season. The way I see it, we still have some serious questions marks here. Jamarcus is the next QB unless something drastic happens. Flynn doesn't look like he will ever be a major factor at the position, but who knows? They are both young. LSU needs to recruit for this position. Mr. Perilloux, are you listening?

Les Miles has the inside track to RP through ESJ's coach... that might be good and bad. I liked JeMarcus' play in the 4th Quarter. Don't want the same two-QB system next year.

I don't want that either. I have to wonder if Jamarcus is hearing footsteps now? I never would have expected him to come out and play as well as he did. Competition is a great thing! :thumb: I never would have expected Flynn to come out as the #2 guy, either. It was a strange game in that regard. I think JR still has potential, but we obviously need a QB as soon as possible. Someone is going to have to step up, but these things don't happen overnight when you are dealing with Freshman and Sophmores. :bncry:

Clausen was a senior right ?

Ainge will get the start next year, he was lights out until his injury... Schaeffer will play the role of a DJ Shockley.

Saban has shown time and time again (just look at Flynn yesterday) that if you perform better than the other guy, you will play. It stands to reason the Marcus got the starts because he was beating out Russell and Flynn in practice on a week to week basis.

    Very Good Observation IMO

New guy on the block but do "lurk" in all the LSU forums. As I watched Randall again yesterday I had
to ask my son, a TCU WR and also a very long time LSU fan what was the deal with Randall and why it seems we either get one extreme or the other with him. He was pointing out coverages he was missing
and suggested plays he should have audibled to. The word "steady" IMO will never describe Randall's football skills......................agree with ALL positive comments about his personality. Can't figure him out. Also can't figure out Russell's "spotty" play sometimes. I can relate however to the comments above about a guy's "stellar" play in HS where "raw" talent sometimes overcomes less than desired knowledge of an offense. TCU has the same problem with a 2 time 4A POY in Texas, QB that led his HS team to 2 state championships. He is buried 5 deep on the roster EVEN behind a very good walk-on, because for whatever reason he can't/won't learn the offense.

I can believe what Drew Tate did to us......................that kid was OFF the charts in HS football in Texas and the ONLY knock on him was his height. I think he is all-time #3 or #4 passer in TX HS history. For those familiar with DFW metroplex you will recognize the NEXT Drew Tate this year, SL Carroll QB Chase Daniel. Almost same height, slightly heavier guy but was 47-1 in HS, 1st year as WR on another State Championship team. Not sure what will happen with LSU QB coach, but Todd Dodge (Former UT/T QB), is the HC of SL and just keeps pumping out record shattering QB's merits attention, he WILL leave the HS ranks soon...........

Lastly, IRT to Miles, would love to see some "love" going to Hawkins at Boise but I guess it won't happen. TCU up to this year had beaten Louisville 3 times in a row so I got to see Petrino in "action" including this years massacre....................his offense's are unbelievable..............but his "loyalty" would be come into question later on. Make no mistake, Miles RAIDS Texas for players and he ALSO plays one of those "chuck and duck", airaid type offenses......................IMO, LSU fans if he comes, will love the offensive plan..................defense IS NOT his forte but he can and does beat OU.

Enough of my rambling, one more year and I will be back at LSU games..................since Dec 2001, we have been to 36 football games in a row for TCU including 3 bowls, and covering Tucson to Chicago, and West Point to Tampa and many spots in between. Geaux Tigahs.............I'll be watching when I can.

The biggest deficit this staff had, IMO, is their lack of recruiting/developing a quarterback. Saban has been here five years and it took the last quarter of the last game for one of their quarterback recruits to truly look like a quarterback. Clausen and Ricard, after they left LSU, both seem to have developed into better quarterbacks than we had all year.
