Yeah that got annoying the past few weeks. I'll try to get them combined quickly form now on, like I did today.

If you have a venting thread, call it the Enchanted Forest or something like that (don't pay attention to my suggestions, I've just had a celebratory beer after being offline and JUST finding out about the ranking), and the thread motto should always be "what happens in insert name, stays in insert name". Venting can be good, but I think opposing viewpoints should be welcomed. We get an entertaining thread for a few days, then it goes away. Sounds good to me.

I don't get it. One of the things I enjoy most here is browsing the "chicken little" or "it's never good enough" or "Tigers are superhuman" threads. Too much reason and logic makes for dull conversation - who wants to agree about everything all the time?

It's already a violation of the user agreement:

    • Do not knowingly post false, defamatory or libelous statements or information.
    • No disparaging personal comments about players or recruits.

We can bitch and moan to out hearts content about the plays, performances, hairdo's, arrests, number of carries, number of drops, etc. Almost anything about the team, the coaches, and the players. But we can't make personal attacks on players or recruits. Certainly not libelous or defamatory rumors.

Its enough work already for the mods to merge, delete, and move threads to keep the forums orderly. trying to police keeping all game complaints to a designated thread is way too subjective and will just piss everybody off. We'll keep merging similar topics, but we don't want to get involved with censoring threads for content.

But . . . I think if SF or someone starting a clearly named postgame thread to get their bitching out of their system, it might just work to keep the mindless complainers from cluttering too many positive football threads.

I had an idea, not sure if it's poll-worthy or not though - I would love if the actual "Official Game" threads were only for the actual game (it would be created right before kickoff, and closed shortly after the game ends). In the days leading up to the game, we'd have an official "Official Pre-Game" thread, which would be closed when the "Official Game" thread was opened. Then when the "Official Game" thread is closed, an "Official Post-Game" thread is opened. Too complicated?

Pretty good idea. I don't know who would always be available at the beginning and end of every game to do the threads though. The Post-Game thread would definitely be a good one to start doing asap.

I like it, too. I've seen the same thing on a couple of pro boards. The post game threads kind of naturally fall to the bottom of the board by early week and everyone gets focused on discussing the next game (or the uniforms  ). Maybe that's something we could try.

I think Red sleeps with a copy of the user agreement under his pillow.
