This is a great job by Radakovich and the athletic department to find a quality replacement for VT. It will be nice to open the season against a good opponent.
LSU has agreed in principle to open its 2004 football season in Tiger Stadium against Oregon State on Sept. 4, senior associate athletics director Dan Radakovich announced on Monday. Final contract details are still pending and should be finalized in the next few days. The Oregon State game fills the void left in LSU's schedule when the Tigers' game against Virginia Tech was pushed back to the 2007 season. LSU's game against Oregon State will mark the fourth meeting between the teams and first since a 45-7 Tiger win in Baton Rouge to open the 1982 season. LSU also beat Oregon State 28-11 in Baton Rouge in 1976 and 27-24 in Tiger Stadium in 1981. Oregon State, a member of the Pac-10, posted an 8-5 overall mark in 2003, which included a 55-14 win over New Mexico in the Las Vegas Bowl. 2004 LSU Football Schedule Date Opponent Sept. 4 Oregon State Sept. 11 Houston Sept. 18 at Auburn Sept. 25 Mississippi State Oct. 2 at Georgia Oct. 9 at Florida Oct. 16 Open Oct. 23 Troy State Oct. 30 Vanderbilt Nov. 6 Open Nov. 13 Alabama Nov. 20 Ole Miss Nov. 27 at Arkansas
The Oregonian (newspaper) says that Oregon State is happy to be playing the defending CO-national champions next year.
We need to be sure to hammer them good, so that when USC squeaks by them later in the year, it'll look that much better.
Will we be returning the favor by playing the Beavers in Corvallis in a few years, or is this a one time deal? Also, any progress on Syracuse for Sept. 11th?
