I've worked with Ed "Bebe" Orgeron and how this guy got a head coaching job in the SEC is beyond my belief. Even if all the reports of him having some epiphany...come to Jesus meeting are true, I still don't know what the Hell lefire: 's Admin could've possibly been thinking. First they fire Cutcliffe, the one coach who had taken them to their best records in 40+ years. Then they bring in Orgeron, who was a hard drinking, skirt chasing, high intensity, ultra-fast living, crazy guy with a very checkered past. Now don't get me wrong, Orgeron was/is a likeable, life of the party, fun guy to be around and that's fine when your the D-line coach because nobody give a rats ass about you. But when you're the head coach, the whole focus is on you and everything you do and say. And like I said, if the reports of his life-altering changes are true - fine, hire him as the Def. Coordinator not your head coach because leopards don't change their spots! Just look at the crap that's happened in Oxford since he's been there. I tell you what, after hearing Gen. Richard, Skip and O'Keefe speak last night at a TAF dinner, I'm glad LSU! has an Administration that recognizes not just the importance of having an outstanding athletics department but having quality people represent our university as well. :geauxtige
I see what you mean about unrealistic expectations but maybe the powers there decided to take a chance and highered him anyway.  Couldn't afford a big name coach. I just hope the team pictures don't turn out like the one's posted on TF showing the USC callender....   :geauxtige
I must be from Mo. I'm not jumping on that band wagon just yet. He will have to show me a few things first. You brought out some good points. I've been concerned since I found out he "head-butted" a bartender in BR. Here's a man aspiring to coach division 1 football? Certainly that wouldn't look good on the ole resume. Do you think any person in sports could become a head coach and give bulletin board material to other teams? And I would LOVE to see some of the rich old biddies getting DOWN in a three point stance and grunting!!!!!!! ARE YOU READY. SET. HOTTY TOTTY MY A## ON THREE
Col Reb - it's not just Orgeron's past that you have to wonder about. It's the stuff that's happened since he's been at Ole Miss, just the sheer craziness surrounding the whole program and it's all exacerbated by Bebe. Like opening up practices to anybody who wants to go - that's ludicrous. Nick Saban knew he had to take back the program so he had to put an end to the circus-like atmosphere that DiNardo let engulf the program. And that's just one example of what I'm talking about. Then you get articles in the Times Picayune about this type of stuff and you just have to scratch your head and wonder how is your program better off with Orgeron than it was with Cutcliffe? And where is this program headed? With Cutcliffe you had unprecedented success then a hiccup last year and bam he gets canned. Is Orgeron the person to raise the Ole Miss program to the proverbial next level....I seriously doubt it! And as an LSU fan, I couldn't be more happy!
I seriously doubt it too. You can't really believe you can reach an emotional high for EACH game and maintain it for all four quarters EACH game.....And many times that emotion does not equal AN INTELLIGENT DECISION. Agreed? Looks to me like his alligator mouth may be writing checks his hummingbird ass can't cover. :hihi:
Sounds like Orgeron is trying to hype up the program as best he could, and get the rivalry back to where it was in the '50's, '60's and 70's... lefire:
TOTALLY AGREE-----Cutcliff was treated wrong. How about Stovall? NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR ONE YEAR---A hiccup (as you call it) the next year-------BRING IN THE "FISH" BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
