This was in todays paper...........thought you guys might find it interesting?????? Les Miles offered opportunities to most of the Cowboys coaching staff to join him in Baton Rouge. So far, several are on board for a tour with the Tigers: Leaving Bill Clay, defensive coordinator: embattled at OSU, gets players to fit his system at LSU. Josh Henson, tight ends: a bit of a surprise, except that Henson needs more than OSU on his resume. Doug Mallory, secondary: close friend and fellow Michigan man. Larry Porter, running backs: a loyal Miles man. Todd Monken, receivers: torn, but couldn't pass on the opportunity. Mack Butler, director of football operations: a good right-hand-man is hard to find. Staying? Mike Gundy, offensive coordinator: likely next head coach. Joe DeForest, cornerbacks/special teams: OSU officials working hard to keep him a Cowboy. Carey Bailey, defensive line: hoping to avoid fourth move in as many years. Chuck Moller, offensive line: may be on the outside looking in in both cases.
This will sum it up, from another of my posts... Head Coach/OLine Coach: Les Miles Asst. Coach/Linebacker Coach: Bill Clay - Oklahoma State(some say admin role) Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach: Defensive Coordinator: Will Muschamp - LSU (hopefully) Defensive Line Coach: Secondary Coach: Doug Mallory - Oklahoma State RB Coach: Larry Porter - Oklahoma State WR Coach: Todd Monken - Oklahoma State TE Coach: Josh Henson - Oklahoma State Special Teams Coach: Strength and Conditioning: Tommy Moffit or Scott Gadeken(asst.) (hopefully) Released: Searles (OL), Dooley(ST), Collins(LB), Fischer(OC), Jones(DL), Ryals(TE), Smart(DB), Williams(Asst.). Bold - OSU Staff (coming to BR) Bold Italics - Coaches that may be retained if needed Possible DC aquisitions - Vic Koenning, Troy State (17th), Matt Eberflus, Mizzou (16th), Jon Tenuta, Georgia Tech (14th), Mark Banker, Oregon State (22nd) - Pretty confident one of these guys would jump ship for an opportunity to coach here. Note Karl Dunbar has connections with LSU and Miles at OSU, but recently went to the Chicago Bears as a D Line coach. Possible OC aquisitions - researching
we wont know until after Les decides on his staff, and whether any of saban's staff WANT to be retained. 24 to 48 hrs and we will know.
The interesting thing about Derek Dooley is that his wife is an ob/gyn in Baton Rouge. She'll have to give up her practice/patients to move to Miami. That's eventually going to be very tough on their marriage--as he's in a nomadic profession, and she's in one where people build a practice to last for their entire careers.
Although Dooley and Saban are friends, i think he may be jumping the gun in thinking that he will be going to Miami, although I know Saban will probably hire him... I don't understand what this guy has done so well here at LSU as Special Teams coach.
So they are supposively not bringing their OC. Uh oh, who do you think we will look to get IF he doesn't come?
