Clueless. We have a system alright. Unfortunately it does nothing to benefit the kids. CA ranks #1 in revenue (Fed+State+Local) and we get more federal funding than any other state....it's not even close. We are also #1 in expenditures with just a tiny amount for capital outlay. We are not however, #1 in spending on instruction. Starting to get the picture? Only one other state has a higher outstanding debt at the end of the fiscal year and that's Texas. CA spends a ridiculous amount on employee benefits, mostly to the Teacher's union in retirement and administrator salaries and benefits. CalPERS is the country's biggest public pension fund. It's been nothing but scams and fraud. It manages $300 billion in retirement funds for 1.6 million teachers, firefighters, police officers and other state employees and is generally credited with being the most sophisticated investor in the pension world. And guess what? Earlier this year, a CalPERS senior executive made a surprising statement: The fund did not know what it was paying some of its Wall Street managers. Lol. The country's biggest pension fund and fess paid out weren't tracked. Yea, great system there. How does that all benefit the kids BTW? CA is NOT in the top 5 for Math, Reading, SAT, or ACT scores. When considering those items and a few others, CA ranks #43. Woo hoo. We are top 5 in Pupil-Teacher ratio though. Getting the picture now? There aren't enough teachers because money goes to administrators and retirement funds, not teachers or instruction. And Moonbeam wants to raise taxes more because the debt is so high. All that and I haven't even touched on ESL expenditures and all the free lunch programs, etc that illegal alien children get.
