One of my friends has a daughter who set a couple of LSU records this year. She is at LSU because of her passion to be a Tiger and so that her dad and sister could see her compete. She did almost sign elsewhere though because of our horrid facilities.

She needs to be swimming at LSU to help turn LSU into one of top teams in the country. It's unfathomable and unacceptable that the daughter of the head football coach is swimming at the University of Texas. Swim at LSU and help turn it around. If the LSU swimming facilities are that bad, then the situation needs to be immediately addressed and corrected asap.

It theory that would be a decent idea however swimming doesn't and never will bring in enough money for the university. So I understand why there is no urgency to update the facilities.

Hey, she has the right to attend the college of her choice just like any other student. Some kids like to get away from high-profile parents. Smacker has been at a prep school in Florida for the past two years training with the top people in the business. She was always headed for a top swimming program and LSU does not have one. She might have gone elsewhere even if it did to avoid any suspicion that she was only signed because of her Dad.

In the Olympic sports the athletes tend to pick the school that will give them the best shot at making the Olympics. Just glad she didn't choose Auburn or UF or another SEC school.

Guess how they'd pay for that? Yep, by increasing the price of football tickets again.

It would be terrible going to college where your dad was a big time coach at a big time program. Yeah, if you win four National Championships in four years it might not be too bad, but who wants to hear their dad being bashed for 10-2, or whatever. Kind of like kids hating it when their mom was a teacher. Or worse, a substitute. Sometimes you need separation. IMHO, this is a prime example.
