And Mingo was his name ! This guy will be left side DE and you will know him well by the end of the game. He might not start but you have never seen a big guy move like this guy can move. The speed as a group on D that we will put on the field game one will be much more of a problem than anything Auburn gave you. Any SEC fan would tell you that - any Bama fan would tell you that. You think Auburn was something on D - we know Auburn had a great DT that we couldn't handle and you could not handle him. It seems you have LSU in a box based on how you played Tenn and we played Tenn. Fine - keep that mind set ! see ya Sept 3rd in Texas
There are going to be three teams in the SEC west this year that won't go to the SECCG and still will be capable of beating any team in the country and finishing in the top 10. It can't happen because we all have to play each other, but it doesn't make the teams any weaker just because they will finish 12-16.
Cal did the same thing, and held Oregon to 162 yards rushing. I stand by my original statement. Facing scout teams is different than facing the starters. Plus Oregon and Auburn run different spread systems. Oregon's offense didn't execute, plain and simple. No, he's recognizing his mistakes, and how it cost them the game. AU didn't force the overthrows, and misreads. I didn't say they were slow. I said defenses that struggle against the spread usually don't have the speed in the front 7. I said that IF they didn't have the speed, that Oregon would take advantage of it. I have respect for the LSU defense, I'm just surprised at your lack of respect for Oregon. Again, I didn't say Oregon's O-line would push anyone around. I said they have great talent replacing the guys leaving. Those guys weren't all-world NFL guys, yet in Oregon's system they thrived.
“I keep hearing apples to oranges. I call B.S. Once LSU fans start accepting those comparisons, only then will I believe that SEC/LSU fans can be objective.” Here are the two games with LSU and Oregon side by side: vs. Tenn: Total yards: LSU 434 Oregon 447 Total Points: LSU 16 Oregon 48 Points allowed: LSU 14 Oregon 13 Yards allowed: LSU 217 Oregon 333 TURNOVERS: 4 vs. AU: Total yards: LSU 243 Oregon 449 Total Points: LSU 17 Oregon 19 Points allowed: LSU 24 Oregon 22 Yards allowed: LSU 526 Oregon 519 So other than more points at Tenn for Oregon, what’s different? More yardage at AU, but LSU gave up less yards at Tenn….. You have ZERO argument with this btw… The real comparison of teams and strength of D is the following….. Total D vs. BSC AQ---- AKA BCS schools….. LSU 18th Oregon 53rd Total D vs. Ranked teams……. LSU 28th Oregon 87th . So with that said, you mean to tell me the D’s you face in the PAC10 prepare you for us? Doubt it bra…..
We also fielded one of the youngest D’s in recent LSU history last season. As an upgrade of the 2009 D, we all assumed last year around this time the D would finish around the top 15.. We were damn close. As I pointed out in earlier post, around 45% of Oregon’s contributors on D were seniors to LSU’s 25%.. Losing the amount of Seniors you did is a huge difference, none more so than the O line……
Well then, it looks as if the blueprint does exist, afterall. Both AU and Cal held the Ducks to paltry offensive numbers when compared to their averages. And if AU modeled their defensive game plan after Cal's, then I'd say that's pretty conclusive. Right, but AU was going up against Cam freaking Newton everyday in practice. Not exactly a scout team. Not really. They are very similar. Right. It's difficult to execute when the opposing defense is kicking your teeth in. Quit trying to pass the loss of as Oregon beating themselves. They got beat by a better team. Deal with it. Says you. People who aren't making excuses look at that game and say that AU knocked Oregon out of their rhythm, which can lead to plenty of mistakes. Then what's the point in bringing it up in regards to LSU if you know it isn't true? Tell me, where do you see any of that from me? I'm mainly shooting down your misgivings about LSU. I'm more worried about this game than any other on our schedule, and have stated as much more than once. No, you implied that AU's defensive line is light years ahead of LSU's, which is terribly off-base. Nick Fairely is a freak of nature, but we've had several guys as good as him come through here in recent years.
One last go: Cal game wasn't a blueprint, two other teams tried to go the same route and got beat. I doubt that Cam newton went against the 1's much in practices leading up to the NC. AU's and Oregon's Spreads are similar in that they run a read option, but they read it differently, AU reads the inside DT, while Oregon reads the DE mostly. Also, AU looked to run Newton as the first option. Oregon's 1st option is LMJ. Again, AU didn't force the over throws, of misreads in the option. I chalked it up nerves being a first year starting Sophomore in the NC. I didn't say AU's D was "light-years ahead of LSU. Fairley dominated that line, and Oregon wasn't ready for it. From what I see, and from the info I've gotten from other LSU fans; LSU doesn't have a Fairley type guy. They are definitely solid, and your DL's are deep. Cheers
LSU doesn't have a Fairley type guy. They are definitely solid, and your DL's are deep. well I think we might! just will not know until after 3 or 4 games ! Duck have a great summer and what a great game to point at !! If I was a Oregon fan I would think my team will out score the Tigers and some how find a way to beat a great team. That is what I am seeing from you and I agree on your take from the West coast. In Baton Rouge we just can't see our D acting like the little girl D's of the Pac-12 so that is our take. We will find out Sept 3rd
