And you are basing that on what? OU has better coaches and better players. OU has ed ut pretty well in the most recent games. Why should this year be any different?
Miami will lose. NC St, Ga Tech, or Virginia should catch them on an off week and do the job. LSU's a pretty good case in point/example of a ridiculously talented team that has maddeningly inconsistent QB play and plays in a very tough conference and will not go 11-0 this season.
I know a lot of what we hear is about West Virginia and I just checked their schedule and they are going to run the table. Someone can nock off USC, Texas, OKLA, Tenn, Miami and others. And we are going to take Georgia out of the equation. Having a loss this early in the season is always better than a late season loss and we will be ahead of all the other one loss teams except Fl St.
We don't have any shot whatsoever of winning the NC and I say that with total love for LSU. We have a lot of holes on this team....especially at QB. We will lose 1 maybe 2 more games this year. Now, it wouldn't shock me if AU lost 2-3 games and we ended up in the SECCG but as for the NC....not a chance
I wouldn't go quite that far. I don't like our chances of repeating or really expect to repeat....BUT....last year we only had one loss, granted it was a little later in the year but still. Also at the end of last season some pretty crazy stuff happened that went exactly the way we needed it to go. I'm not sayin that it will happen again.....but it COULD happen again. i.e., the immortal OU lost to Kansas State, I realize SOS is irrelevant now but all of the key games that needed be won by outside teams were decided the way we needed them to be. Realistically, Marine Tiger is right though. Unless a lot things go our way, it's not gonna happen. I do expect a BCS bowl though...gotta set the goal high  :thumb: ....and I still guarantee no one will go undefeated..... :thumb:
there should be no rules limiting a team from the NC if they do not win their conference. what if for instance georgia lost 3 games but won the eat and lsu was undefeated and lost by one point to GA in the sec championship game? so now lsu has one loss to GA's 3, you dont think lsu would be more seserving of the national championsip? you shouldnt consider confernece championships as opportunities to lose a chance at the national championship. that is a HUGE advantage for conferences who do not play those games. why should one loss artbitrarily be more damaging to a team? especially a game agaisnt a very good opponent?
Right now, I'm planning on buying a 2005-2006 Sugar Bowl package. I'm banking on 10-2 and us being SEC champs and getting a bid to New Orleans...which is fine by me.
You are right, and after someone else pointed it out to me on this thread . . . I changed my opinion and posted that. One of the reasons I'm against a playoff is because I would hate to see a 3 or 4 loss team winning an NC (while there may be undefeated or 1 loss teams after the season). You guys pointing out the situations in which losing the conference title is unfair to teams who played well all season have an excellent point . . . and I fully admit I wasn't thinking of that when I first posted on this thread. I was thinking of solving immediate problems, rather than all the other options out there. So, I fully admit I was wrong on this one. No big deal, I doubt the BCS committee is going to contact me for my opinion on this matter anyway.
