Do you have any idea how much more money ND earns than other schools due to their stature, the deal with NBC, and the fact that they are independent? How about $9 million a year through 2010!

By comparison, the SEC's pretty good TV deals and overall conference bowl revenues paid out at the rate of only $6.6 million a year to each school, nearly a $2.5 million dollar difference when compared to ND.

One thing the Irish need to do (and quickly) is get more realistic with the scheduling. The days when they could overcome brutal schedules are gone; keep Michigan, dump USC, pick off a few Big Ten and the occasional ACC or SEC school and play a competitive but not insane schedule.

That may not be realistic, though, because NBC isn't paying all that jack to televise Notre Dame-Bowling Green games. ND is kinda stuck due to that deal---the money is insanely good, but playing the marquee teams all the time gets them killed on the field.

I've said this before, I'll say it again: Jon Gruden will be coaching at Notre Dame within 5 years. Guy has already won a SB ring, he adores Notre Dame, they'll pay him a ridiculous amount of money, and he can coach there for the next 20-30 years, pulling in great recruits in the process.

ND had better improve on the old gridiron. NBC might be looking to review the terms of that contract in the next couple of years.

Yes, Notre Dame is locked into playing pretty much all marquee teams except for Navy with NBC paying them the big bucks. Years ago they use to play 3 or 4 cupcakes in a lot of seasons but not really any longer and I am sure that NBC probably had a lot to do with that. I was hoping NBC wouldn't re-up this spring but they decided to do it even though they actually lost some money the past couple of years overall.

ND will never dump USC, it's considered one of their greatest rivalries and NBC wants that game every other year. ND does take occasional breaks from the Michigan series, but Navy, Purdue, Michigan State, Michigan, and USC are considered their rivalry games so you won't see much change in that schedule, but you could see ND take 2 year breaks in the Mich, Purdue, and MSU series.

Their fan base won't stand for ND playing the buy a wins. What is realistic is for them to play a Vandy or Duke or Northwestern once in awhile and more games against army and air force.

You only need two teams to play a championship game, the NCAA will not allow more than two teams to play at one time.:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
Why couldn't you come up with the best two to play for the championsip whether you have 2, 11 or 117 teams? The problem is that USC is the only semi competitive team in the conference and a championship game would only help prove what a joke the conference is. Could you imagine USC winning 20 straight conference champonship games by an average of 28 points per game and what that would say about the strength of the pac 10? Don't look for the puss 10 to add a championship game unless the BCS adds that only conference champions can play for the title and since the powers in charge of the BCS seem to be USC's bitch(see loss of SOS and AP given added weight in new system) don't hold your breath!!!!!!

they let it happen in the Almost Competitive Conference with FSU so why would the NCAA care? Not much different for the last decade in the Big Least with Miami.

And ND needs to join the Big 10 and get it over with before the superconferences join and secede the union formerly known as the NCAA.

What I said was that the NCAA would not let more than 2 teams play in a single game(so no need to have 12 teams instead of 11). I agree that they could care less whether one team dominates a conference or not.
