The overturned catch near midfield was also huge (about a 30 yard gain). There was no evidence whatsoever that supported the fact he kept possession of the ball all the way to the ground, yet the replay official overturned it in Oregon's favor.

If Cal could kick a 25 yard chip shot FG, none of that would have mattered. I just hope Robert Smith demands that voters consider that Oregon actually has a loss.

Yep, once it's dropped the hold should be called no matter where it occurred.

I didn't see the play in the OU game in question. What you're saying makes sense, but it sounds like in the OU game, the flag was thrown then picked up. That's absolutely wrong, because you now have to give a reason that falls within the rules for picking up the flag. And nowhere in the rules does it say holding is allowed if its away from the play.

The PAC-10 is desperate for a REAL national champion.

When is the last time they had one, the 70s?

Happens all over, apparently. Fans of other WAC and Mountain West schools have even complained that officials in those conferences, past a certain point in the season, will protect the front-runner to ensure a BCS bid. La Tech fans on their board complain all the time that Boise State is the beneficiary of any call that is in doubt/can go either way.

WAC Commissioner Karl Benson is a BSU alum, so maybe they have a point.
