1. In the late 1990's I was visiting our location at Sunnyvale. A friend of mine knew a member of Monterrey Peninsula CC. I took a couple of days vacation at the end of the trip and drove down to the Monterrey Peninsula. Played Pebble (he got me a reduced rate) and MPCC. A couple of years later he came through Colorado and I hosted him for a round at the Air Force Academy. Great golf on the peninsula, but the views are spectacular and among the best in the world.

  2. Sadly, I've only seen it on TV. But I've seen enough to make Pebble Beach #2 on my list of all the courses in the world I'd love to play. Of course Augusta National is #1
  3. You might be able to play Pebble if you bring enough $$$, you on the other hand could back a brinks truck up to AN and still not get a tee time.
  4. A few years ago I heard it cost about $350 for a round at Pebble. Probably higher now and there is probably a waiting list for T times.

I'll just become the head coach at South Carolina when Muschamp gets fired. It worked for the Old Ball Coach
  5. I used to buy the tiger Woods game just to play pebble beach.
  6. Back when I was out there, I think they were paying $200 and that was late 80's.

A guy I worked for in England got a tee time at St Andrews, years in advance. Gets up there, hurricane like weather. Massive rain, and gale winds. His wife is pissed they even go to course. Fuming, she sits in car. (you know that ain't good)

He goes in, gets a guy to caddy for him who dressed in boots and foul weather gear and off he goes. He hangs in for nine, then just cannot take it. Dream round of golf ruined.

He gives the guy a big tip, and thanks him, and the Scot says, "I have carried a bag in a lot worse!"

  8. What a great game golf is. You can play it with a mouse in one hand and a beer in the other without any of that bothersome sunshine and fresh air.
  9. nah it was more about the travel and the green fees.
  10. Maybe your plane would stop in Vegas and you wouldn't have any green fees.
