1. So, if that is true, how are we talking about 25-28 signings this year, and how did Bama sign so many last year? I think I remember some posts about this last year, but have forgotten how that works. I know that since we lost out on Debose, Campbell, and some of the west coast kids, we are now likely to stop at 25 anyway.
  2. They signed 33, but they had many academic casualties, so it balanced out.
  3. You can only add 25 scholarships per year. Any more players you sign over that 25 either don't enroll/qualify to enroll, take a grayshirt (which means delay enrollment until the next year's class), or walk-on & do not receive a scholarship.
  4. Should also be noted that we can do it as well because of back counters.
  5. Dont back counters have to enroll early? How many back counters do we have available?
  6. I asked Mike S if we can count either Benton or Duplessis back to 2008, and he said no, they both will have to count in 2009.

I thought we had one to count back, but I don't know now.

We had 26 in 2008 and Benton and Duplessis did not count, so I don't know why Mike S said what he said.
  7. Five, I believe.

Enrolling early counts as back counting.
  8. How did you come up with that number?

Maybe I'm confused as to what you define as a "back counter".

  9. Were there any scholarship losses during the season??? New rules
prohibit the coach from transferring ship until end of the semester they
are in. ie........walk-on that gets a ship for the fall must have it before
school starts in August/Sept whatever time it may be. Also, it is common
to transfer the ship of a guy that leaves early for NFL to player for the spring and perhaps the summer semesters, with freshmen now able to report at beginning of summer the summer semester might not be as much of a player these days. FWIW.:geaux:
  10. Say only 23 enrolled last year. If two enroll early they count towards the previous years 25 and it will appear as if we are bringing in 27 in that year.

    edit:goes towards 85 i believe.
