Ouch at the comments. I don't remember the last time I read such things being said about an LSU team. Hopefully, Coach Johnson will turn this thing around.

    1999-2000 Nevada 09-20
    2000-2001 Nevada 10-18
    2001-2002 Nevada 17-13
2002-2003 Nevada 18-14 NIT 1st round - WAC tourney runner up
2003-2004 Nevada 25-09 NCAA Sweet 16 - WAC reg season champs, tourney champs
    2004-2005 Stanford 18-13 NCAA 1st round
    2005-2006 Stanford 16-14 NIT 2nd round
    2006-2007 Stanford 18-13 NCAA 1st round
    2007-2008 Stanford 28-08 NCAA Sweet 16 - PAC10 tourney runner up

This seems like a pretty decent, interesting hire. Maybe not a home run, but I'm happy the trigger was pulled on Brady and if everything goes as planned, the new era will begin, finally. And I'm happy that he's black, it is a small milestone for LSU, IMO.

    beautiful, beautiful hire...

He will 'get er done' at LSU.

And for those who question if he can recruit, he got both Lopez twins and Nick Fazekus in his 2 stops. And his Stanford teams always had an abundance of quality role players, something LSU desperately needs.

His record at Stanford was not that great.

    2004-05: 18-13
    2005-06: 16-14
    2006-07: 18-13

That has me concerned. Can he recruit?

I really like this guy a lot. I definitely think he was strapped by the academic qualifications at Stanford. If he can recruit guys like that at a school like Nevada and still get good enough guys at Stanford to compete in the Pac 10, this ought to be considerably more of an easier draw. I'm actually excited about basketball next season. :thumb:

pretty convenient to leave his best year off your list there, man.

And also pretty convenient to not show the conference records which show he was sub .500 every year in the Pac 10 (a real tough league).

You all know I was a butch lover.

This guy is better than Butch imo. :)

That was one year. And the SEC is no slouch. I am not saying he is a bad hire. But I do have a concern.

    1. Pac 10 > SEC in basketball. Not even close, either.

    2. That "one year" is the 4th year which means the whole team was "his players".

not saying Montgomery left the program in bad shape... at all... but Johnson was just filtering in his talent with the Lopez twins, etc...
