The difference though is that JR COULD throw it 80 yards off his back foot between 2-3 guys. I doubt RP can. I am torn on who I think whould start. Flynn deserves it and will probably do just fine. However I hate to waste a year of RP for a senior who will only be in the offense 1 year.
No such thing as wasting a year because a player is a senior. If Flynn is the best QB he should start.
don't be so sure... this is the same guy that wasn't the #1 QB in the country until he challenged Marc Sanchez at a camp and BURNED him... I know for sure he can throw it 60, because I have seen him do it in a game.
Regardless of Perrilloux's real or imagined talent, Flynn certainly has talent as well. We all have seen him play and you may want to consider another issue. Perrilloux signs with us, runs his mouth, and even up until this past season, there were rumblings about his complaints of not playing. Never heard anything like this from Flynn. How will that maturity translate into game time? Regardless of natural ability for either player, this tells me who the better game manager could be, when it comes to utilizing the amount of superstars we will put on the field. We need somebody who can bring the team together and elevate others while performing at a high level. Maybe Perrilloux just needed this time to grow up a bit. And we may all want to have a little faith in Miles' ability to decide on who is the better player. I would hate to see post game comments filled with calls for Perrilloux, because Flynn may have made a mistake. We hen pecked Russell the entire time he was here, and I don't think it reflected well upon us as fans, or helped our team in anyway. Looking to the future is to be expected, but the grass is rarely greener. I think the best man for 2007 will win this battle.
While he appears to have a strong arm, I don't know if he can match JR's strength. I hope he can. We will see. But whether he can or not, accuracy is more important than strength. What good does it do to throw it 80 yards if a QB can't connect with the receiver?
how often are there 80 yard pass plays through the air? that would mean that you threw it from the 20 into the opposite end zone which is ridiculous. it's a dumb standard to measure a qb on considering one will never have to -- and should never -- throw the ball 80 yards in the air. if you can throw it 50 then you're fine. (unless we plan on throwing hail marys all the time)
