If there was any way to actually settle this bet, I would give you 10 to 1 odds.

I am very excited about the qb position this year. I think if we can beat VT in the second game of the season we have a real shot at the whole enchilada.

Actually that is not accurate. While you make a valid point that there are few reasons to throw a ball in the air 80 yards, what that points to is superior arm strength for throws of 30-50 yards. If you can only throw the ball 50, and I can throw it 80, believe me, the 50 yard throw is easier for me and I will be able to do it more often without tiring. Want an example? Watch the sugar bowl again, and see how easily Russell threw his two 58 yards touchdowns.

Also effects how you throw. Do you have to loft the ball or is it a laser? More likely the guy with the bigger arm has more weapons at his disposal. There really is a reason people (see NFL), get excited about this after all. It translates directly into game ability.

That's exactly right, with JR he can throw it 60 yards on the run off balance, and that is just another weapon he has. In contrast, say a Chad Pennington type kinda guy he's on the run and he's gonna have to stop, set his feet, and throw it as hard as he can to get the ball there, and the chances are he will be buried into the ground by the defensive end before he has a chance to throw it.
It really could be the difference in a game, not to take anything away from te other guys, if you can lead your team down the field for TD's it doesn't matter how strong your arm is. However it just helps if you have a guy with a big arm who can not only throw it 80 yards but throw 30-40 yard lasers off balance, tahts what most people don't see. Sure throwing 80 yards is overrated but throwing for 40 on the run isn't, it will happen in every game.

I'd hate to waste a chance at a national championship starting the second best quarterback no matter which one that is.

Actually I was refering to Russell, someone posted Russell can throw 80 yards. I replied I would bet money he throws it 90. Im pretty sure Perrilloux wont match up to Russell's arm strength cause even pro QBs WONT. I would be glad if Perrilloux can throw it 60.:thumb:

Like anyone here would be overjoyed if that was the case? I don't think Miles has named a starter yet, but if he does name Flynn over Perrilloux, do you have some insider information that we don't? What is your method of measuring our current QB's of which only one has significant playing time? This is just silly speculation based on no facts that Perrilloux would be better this year. Unfortunately, some fans just will never pleased with the greatness we have and always long for greatness yet unrealized.

Are you sure about that? I would bet my money right away on it. Btw, I was pointing out that Russell, not Perrilloux, could swing it 90 yards.:thumb:

I don't think you will find many that want to start the second best guy. But the hard question is what if they are tied? Who do you start then?
