That can't happen cause should all other things be equal......Flynn has the advantage with playing experience- I wouldn't discount that.
That is exactly the case with all fans. People wanted Russell to be benched to Flynn because of a bad performance, then they will want to bench Flynn to Perrilloux, then they will want to bench Perrilloux to Lee. I think that's just normal. And Im not criticizing the post about the best QB to get us a NC. I understand what u mean, and that's what everyone of us wants.:thumb:
In Miles, Crowton, & other players' interviews it has been apparent that Flynn is the starter. He will get his chance. Hopefully he shines & we get to see some RP this year, and next year Ryan starts & is great for us.
IMO, in case of a tie, then the nod should go to the more mature player and Flynn should be rewarded for his patience. This is not a Randall/Russell situation. Flynn and Perrilloux are very close in skill sets but scramble a bit differently. As of today, it appears that Flynn is in the lead. If they actually are identical then I go by Miles' track record of rewarding players who work hard. Pure and simple, Flynn has paid his dues.
That's what I've seen too......it's Flynn's to lose, and not that it may not happen but nontheless. :thumb:
I think that this is what will happen. And I have no problem with Flynn being the man. It appears as though he is at this point. But RP has to see more PT than Flynn did last year, or we go into 08 with zero game experience. The "experience" we are giving Flynn credit for is basically one game. The rest of his time it was 100-0 when he came in the game and he was playing against the third teamers for Sunbelt schools. This can't happen this year or we will be in trouble in 08.
What about "Experience" as in yrs. in the college system, being at practices, studying film, games (Sidelines) hearing coaches, players, etc. talk about many situations- game managment, reading defenses? Jus askin.
You're right. Those things matter also. I guess it depends on how much the system has really changed as to how far ahead MF actually is in these other aspects of experience. The game management and reading defenses, well that goes back to basically 1 game. I would almost guarantee he is well ahead in the film study. This is a science that alot of guys never truly get. It's not like you just sit there and watch a football game. The extra two years should definitely give him tha advantage here.
I agree that RP should get more playing time and I think that he will. However the "one game" you refer to happened to be a nationally televised bowl game, against a top 20 team, with an eleven win record on the line. Considering the pressure on him for that "one game", I think he came through quite well.
well we're talking about college here, it's a different game. not to sound b*itchy but how many times did russels arm strength help him in throwing the long ball these past few years? how many times did he just loft it in the air only for it to be too short? The craig davis td at arkansas is a perfect example. while we still got the td buster had to do way more than he should have, the ball should have been thrown in front of him instead of 5 yards behind him. your points are valid, and i understand them. but what i'm saying is that arm strength isn't everything and it is a terrible way to compare qbs. it don't mean crap if you can throw it 1000 yards if you don't get it to your receiver. so since i'm a college fan (not an nfl in the least) i'd go ahead and take someone who makes nice 40-50 yard passes but tops out there instead of someone who throws the ball 100ft in the air. (also not a jr basher... just sayin)
