Apparently, there is a new rule THIS YEAR that you cannot jump and land on the opposing teams lineman on FG attempts, per ESPN just now. How the F are you supposed to block a kick if you can't jump up the middle? oh well, get some gifts and have some taken away. good game
nope...Reese Davis on ESPN just explained the new rule while showing the replay. said the rule is new this year.
What a joke, next thing you know when you pull the flag out of the players pocket he will be called down. Unfricken believable!!! :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis:
:cuss: :cuss: :cuss: That rule is just as dumb as the ticky-tack "bump" rule the NFL is using. LET THEM PLAY!!!!!! This is FOOTBALL!! NOT dance team!!!! People will fall on you. IT's part of the game! We didn't hold them. We didn't hit them after the play. We didn't rough the kicker. We didn't use a human pyramid to block the kick. We had a 190 lbs. player land on a 300+ offensive lineman while jumping..... F-ing pathetic rule!
Yes, the rule sucks, but the ref calling it sucks much, much worse. If he doesn't make that call, does anyone say anything? No. Do NBA referees blow whistles for carrying on the last possession in a playoff game? No. That ref decided to make a trivial call at a monumental point in the game. The PAT wasn't missed because Prude landed on an opposing player. The PAT was missed because of a bad snap and therefore mis-timed kick. Give him the game ball. He earned it. We should be talking about a thrilling OT game right now.
It doesn't matter if it's a new rule or not. If that's a rule, you could call that on every conceivable field goal attempt. Hell, I'd bet money that if you go back and look at the LSU missed PAT, one of the Auburn guys probably jumped on the back of one of our offensive linemen at some point. It's almost impossible not to. The point is that it had absolutely zero to do with the Auburn kicker missing the extra point. It had absolutely no relevance to the play and should not have been called at that point in the game.
Already looked. They didn't pressure the kick. Maybe the refs stressed this rule in team meetings? So how long until the basketball team loses a game because Minor's jersey is untucked? (let the brady jokes begin)
