If that article is what amounts to bitching and moaning, it wasn't much. He didn't say anything that any other coach in that position wouldn't have said and probably a lot less than what could have been said. He said what a majority of fans, players, coaches, and media have said for the last several years...........the system to find a true #1 doesn't work. In my convoluted mind, only a match up between USC and LSU in 2003 would have yielded the true #1. But let's ask the Sooners. :yelwink2: And no, I don't have an answer but clearly there have been enough problems for people to agree that revisions need to be made.
There's no use re-hashing all of this 2003 stuff. Hopefully, both teams will be there in Jan. to settle it once and for all.
You asked for an example and I found you one within 13 minutes of your post while working at the same time. I'm sure I can find more examples if you'd like but it wouldn't change your mind. Patricia did b#tch and moan that year, pretty obvious to all. Hopefully we can play this year and see what happens.
I admitted to sometimes wearing C&G glasses but you're probably right that my mind wouldn't change. I just don't see it as bitching or moaning. I think it was a reaction that ANY coach in that position would have had. What should he have done? Smile? Say it's great to NOT play for the NC? Winners don't curl up and go away, they're a little feisty. My apologies if my request came across the wrong way. Even Lloyd Carr had this to say: As a member of the coaches association and the BCS, I'm committed to vote the winner of the Sugar Bowl as the national champion," said Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, who reiterated his stance of early December. "(But) if I was a member of the media or the press, you certainly could make a case for Southern Cal. You could make me an honorary member (of AP )."
Of course. Like I said it was the overall BCS ranking that was relevant, but they chose to focus on the AP.
No. But it gives you an idea of how he felt about AP's rankings in 2003. I guess so. He had just had his nads handed to him in the Rose Bowl. Did you expect him to say "Dayum, I'd hate to see what LSU would do to us?"
No more than I would have expected Stoops to wonder how badly the Sooners were going to lose to USC the following year.
