I don't understand with all the sporting movies they make these
days, why there hasn't been 1 about Pete Maravich.

I saw a movie in the early 90's about Pete but it only went through high school.

    Anyway,

I was doing some research and I found this Link if anyone would
like to see accomplishments and info on Pete.

    I didn't realize he was a 5 time NBA Allstar, I guess you don't make the NBA's top 50 for nothing:shock:

I just hope that Coach Brady kind find a way to play Josh before
    he's gone:dis:

We may never see another Maravich in a basketball uniform but I
    hope we do.:dis:

    Enjoy the Link

I tried out for "The Pistol" when I was about 10 or 12. Anyone was allowed to audition and I remember quite a few kids that didn't fit the part (a few girls were there). Pete gave a little speech after the try out (in the PMAC) and all the kids were given a chance to do a hand-eye reaction thing. He'd drop a basketball from the back of your neck and you had to clap and then try to catch it behind your back. None of the kids could do it and then Pete let the last little 5 yr old catch it. That kid was so excited.

I saw Maravich play at the Cajundome for the Shooting Stars with Meadowlark Lemon and Curley from the old Globetrotters. Not sure how long it was before he died. My dad's friends also like to tell the story of how my dad brought me to see Pete play for the Jazz when I was about 6 months old. I think I just stared at the Superdome ceiling most of the game but my dad had to make sure I'd seen Pete play at least once.

Coach Garland was my high school coach; the guy that played Pete was also in my P.E. class the year he was down in B.R. while they were shooting the film.

Coach Garland was also supposed to be in "Everybody's All American" but his parts were left on the cutting room floor. However if you listen closely when the team has their reunion and are watching the old game films you can hear Coach Garlands name mentioned.
