Some of you never cease to amaze me. The Del Rio incident..... ESPN reported that first. All they really know is that LSU officials, who they likely followed and/or spotted, were in Jacksonville and that Del Rio was not there. They are purely speculating in that they missed Del Rio or that meeting with him was even their intention to start off with. Les Miles... Smoke & Mirrors folks. We will hear about the real candidate when he is announced as our new head coach. Give Skip a chance and hold off on the Chicken Little paranoia.
Oh yes great one give us your inside info on this great coach we are about to hire that only you and Skip know about. :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: Get a grip all the talk lately is about the coaching hire and you have to admit most of the names being thrown around are not impressive. We all know and indeed hope that there may be some candidates that we know nothing of but it's hard to talk about candidates you have heard nothing of. Most thought that top quality coaches would be lining up for the job and at least on the surface that has absolutely not happened. There is much much reason to be concerned. I haven't given up on getting a great coach and I don't think many here have but if you have some information that we don't and you talk like you do please share it with us so we will not be so chicken little paranoid.
Fits the M.O. I've been an LSU fan a long time. In the 70s, folks were unhappy w/ Cholly Mac b/c he couldn't beat the Bear. Back then, you would hear rumors that Notre Dame coach Ara Parseghian was spotted "looking at real estate on Highland Road." Then later there were the Lou Holtz rumors. Unfounded rumors have dominated every LSU coaching search. So, I hope I'm wrong, but, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for Skip to announce a blockbuster coaching hire. We hired Saban due to primarily one person -- Mark Emmert. He ain't dere no more! I get the feeling the idiots at the BOS are getting involved (like the chucklehead Cusimano who got us Gerry D.) and have steered Skip away from a bright innovative offensive mind like Petrino, to a Curley Hallman- type, Les Miles. Again, I hope I'm wrong. At this point, I'm praying it's Del Rio. If not him, Rodriguez or Nolan.
I do not know who the next coach buddy boy. Sorry. Giving you my OPINIONS if not obvious. People are panicing for no reason though. You certainly must be able to see that. I believe Skip is holding things close to the vest, so to speak, and we do not know everything going on. Either that or Les Miles will indeed be hired and I will sadly eat my words.
I mean, really, all the criticism of the Coaching search is, ah, a bit premature. Besides, what exactly would the experts on these boards being doing that Skip hasn't done already---especially when we know very little about what Skip has "actually" done. I enjoy following the search, but to bomb Skip about what he should or shouldn't being doing goes over the top sometimes. I think he is working his a** off and doing all he can to talk to anybody and everybody. What has been pretty great is watch the coaches we may be considering showcase their stuff in the bowl games. That's great. Most important thing for me today is tigers beat the stuffing out of Hawks. Happy New Year.
I hope you're right and you very well may be, but you have to admit the way things look right now there is some reason for concern. Right now the top coach on the visible list that is interested in the job is Les Miles. He may be a great coach at LSU if hired but he is not a big time proven coach that we thought we could land and is not likely to excite many here. Hopefully someone like Mike Nolan or a previously unnamed quality candidate will move to the top of the list soon.
Guess who was in Jacksonville yesterday too. Steve Spurrier getting inducted into the Gator Bowl Hall of Fame. Makes me wonder about that trip.
Wow bombing Skip I must have missed those posts. What some are saying is that whats left of the list isn't that impressive. I haven't seen one post saying that Skip isn't doing all he can do, please link to that post so I can see it myself. I think everyone here hopes that Skip has something going on behind the scenes but I would like to see a show of hands of all posters thrilled with the names or name(Miles) left on the list of candidates that we know of. I have faith in Skip but he doesn't have total control to hire who he wants, the other party has to be interested also otherwise Belichick would be coaching the Bowl game today. Don't get concern over the names we are hearing confused with criticizing Skip and the search process, they are not the same.
