I cannot beleave i am saying this but i........agree.....with AU. If you watch the clip the beer came from the guy just to the left of the woman that was knocked down. I think it was a stuppid thing for the fan to try to do but to me it does not look like he was trying to hit Sheff, but only distract him. In Sheff's post game interview he said that it felt like he was trying to hit him and that he first thought his lip was busted but if you look at it the guy does not even swing at him that hard. Does roids make you cut and bleed easy?

These people in the stands are not fans but punks, plugs or anything else you can think of calling them.

A player should feel he has the right to make a play on the ball without being distracted in anyway other than common noise. No noise makers. No physical interference etc. These guys are not in a board meeting and a certain amount of adrenaline is flowing to get themto perform in sports. Reaction such as this in my opinion are understandable.

The guy in the unibomber outfit looked like he was going to cut and run when GS approached the stands. Then when he saw that GS was not interested in him he starts smiling and clappping. What a wuss. :po:

I'm not saying it's that big of a deal - it's a slow time of year for sports so this is great for the media.

For someone who saw it 8 MILLION times, I think you need another look...

BB, I couldn't agree with you more. No need to restate everything you've said, but this fan interference is horse chit. If these fans want to act like yahoos, then so be it.

But if the finely-tuned athlete proceeds to destroy the fan, as his wife/girlfriend and accidental/bastard children look on, then so be it.

I have no problem with an athlete kicking the teeth in of anybody that interferes with them doing their JOB.

As to the LSU angle --

I remember being on campus and watching an LSU-Mississippi State game back in the '80's on LSU TV. In the middle of a Mississippi State at-bat, the announcer says something like "What the heck ... where is Joey Belle". The next thing they show is Joey Belle (who had been playing right field) completely out of the field of play, chasing two guys over some hill.

As it turned out, the two guys had been riding Belle the whole game and had apparently started throwing some "N" bombs at Joey. In the middle of an inning, Joey Belle just took off after the two guys.

It was CLASSIC Joey "Call me Albert" Belle.

I remember that. One of the rednecks was standing on the right field fence holding a 2x4 over his shoulder.
