heard a saying one time about the difference between Bos. and NY...
In new york if you get mugged and fall down, people will step right over you and keep walking, in boston they will walk right on top of you and look back to make sure you didnt still have your wallet on you...

To reiterate, Boston itself is a great place. The people in that city (and state, for that matter) are either low class trash, elitist academics, or blueblooded trust fund babies. Not all but enough to ruin the place. I've spent a lot of time in Boston and NYC and will take NYC all day. Sheff should get a Nobel Prize.

As for LSU stuff -- Probably shouldn't admit this, but I drilled the Tulane mascot in the north endzone as a freshman or sophomore with a nearly full cup. To this day, lobbing the cup so that all of the coke wouldn't come out, AND timing it as he ran by, taunting the fans, is the greatest throw of my life.

Hindsight is 20/20 and I now realize I should have thrown a lit flare.

...and don't call them "Boston Idiots" because you like the Yankees.... that's MORE lame...

I am a Red Sox season ticket holder--and this is my 2nd year doing such. My seats are right behind the visitors bullpen (which would be 2 sections over to the left when looking from home plate, from the incident).

Let me just say that the fan DID have intent on hitting Sheffield--but he wanted to flip his hat off....you don't attempt to punch someone--especially like Sheffield, with THAT weak of a swing... He went for the hat.

I have seen EVERY angle of the incident--from ESPN to local TV and Sheff's dramatic "feeling of his lip" is all in his head because his mouth was never touched.

Look, I think that sort of thing is totall BUSH LEAGUE.... But I've been to numerous games in Yankee Stadium and they have their share of a-hole fans as well. It's the nature of the rivalry. If the Devil Rays are playing in Fenway Park last night, their RF never gets touched. But it's the Yankees and certain fans out there are just stupid about it.

New York has them....Boston has them....Kansas City has them (umpire that was attacked)....or was it the White Sox I'm thinking of??

The whole player-fan interaction between the Yankees and Red Sox started year before last when a Fenway Park grounds keeper was involved in a scuffle between Yankees pitcher Jeff Nelson and RF Karim Garcia because the grounds keeper jumped the bullpen wall and was mistaken for a common fan.

I take offense to that.... Are you from NYC? Lived in NYC? ...have you lived in Boston? Visited Boston??

16 NBA titles, 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls..... And now that the Sox have their WS championship....Yeah, we're REALLY envious of everything NYC has.... :dis:

looked to me he was trying to impede sheff from getting to the ball. obviously he wasnt trying to hit him since he coulda busted him in the head if he wanted. nor does he bend over like he's reaching for the ball.

sheff is in the wrong for going back to confront the fan. you know anytime you go to the wall someone is going to reach over.

the fan is wrong and was rightfully ejected for interference.

the players have to be held to a much higher standard than the drunk fans. it comes with the fat contracts.

    3 words, BB:

    Pot.

    Kettle.

    Black.

Everything you're saying in reference to people from or living in Boston, is what you're displaying right now. You really need to quit it--unless you're NYC born and raised, you have no buisiness saying the things you're saying.

...and even if you were NYC born and raised, you would no doubt know people from Boston personally because of the close proximity to the cities, and the business connections between the two....so you would know that not all people from Boston suck...

    Boston Bengal,

Lighten up please! You are not the only person that has been to the cities. This is really not a yankees-red sox board anyway. If you are a yankees fan or not has nothing to do with the incident. Hats off to the Sheffield in my opinion. There are tiger fans in both citites. Go Tigers! :yelwink2:
