Expanding rosters sounds good, but there's no way the NCAA is going to let that fly with their goal of "spreading the wealth" with other programs. I doubt you would find fans against it, but I also have my doubts you'll find school presidents in favor.

Eliminating one of a schools OOC games is cutting into the revenue streams schools have right now. With so many programs not turning a profit, the notion of taking away one of those games? Again, the school presidents won't be for the idea.

Starting the season earlier? I don't understand its significance. If it's something you're thinking about when it comes to 16 games being too many that thought doesn't have anything to do with the time, as in length, a season takes.

Quite frankly, 15 games are going to really kill some rosters. Brady Hoke said less than a month ago if his team had to play one more game they would have been in a world of hurt because of the injuries his team had already suffered through 13 games: with a month off before their bowl game.

These are kids we are talking about. Kids who are still growing.

As you talk about moving to that many games you are asking for teams to not be at their fullest potential when it comes to the playoff. IF we are seriously looking for the best teams playing the best teams you want them as close to full strength as possible, right?

If there is one thing you can say about the selection committee and college basketball is more often than not they get the #1 seeds correct. The same will work in football if we are truly looking at getting the best four together. AND, let's not forget, they are dealing with 300+ teams compared to the few they would choose from in CFB.

I'm stopping there...but, could easily continue with more reason not to go with eight. The biggest one being this isn't the NFL. I wish people would stop trying to make it like the league.

Could be, but that is complicated, I think with big ??

4 team playoff? How many teams comprise these super-conferences? What about the rest of Div. I (I'm thinking lawsuit)? What if a lot of the best teams don't join the supers? Do the supers secede from the NCAA and create their own governing body. What about the Bowls?

I'm often very wrong, but I think that creating super-conferences is a fast revolution, I think the big-shots are looking for long measured steps.

There was some secession talk last year, I think it might have added impetus to the probable BCS changes to come.

I just love that change is finally on the way.

    16 teams in each.

I see and understand your opinion,.. it is shared by many, but I'm not one, a 4 team playoff doesn't cut it for me, beats the shit out of the BCS,.. but not good enough IMO.

My thoughts on the longer season,.. expanding rosters and adding bye weeks would help reduce the wear and tear.

That, and we get to witness the quality entertainment of university presidents talk with a straight face about the adverse effects of a long season on players' academic performance.

Roster expansion is overdue with injuries up and underclassman defection to the NFL rampant. Probably won't happen unless the big schools band together and leave the NCAA.

Forget starting the season earlier. The students won't be there for one thing. And September games in the deep south are oppressively hot and humid for both teams and fans. August games are out of the question. Even at night.

There are rarely more than four teams still in the hunt for #1 by December, usually less. If you are number five, then tough chit, you should have done better. Nobody needs or cares about a playoff to determine teams 5-16.

I agree with this somewhat. College football doesn't need NFL structure.
