Not much one can do about the weather, I didn't think about that. I con't know about your region, but school doesn't start at U of O until Sept. 24. The students will arrive just in time to see our 4th game. It could happen, that a very tough SEC cannibalizes itself to the point, where it's Champion isn't one of the top four. Doesn't the SEC Champ deserve a shot at the title? I know we're talking football, but consider this,.. It was brought up, and I agree, that the selection committee does a very good job when determining the #1 seeds in the basketball tournament. ... How often does it happen, where all four of the nation's most touted,.. the #1 seeds,.. actually make it to the Final 4 ? It's happened only one time, because sports are very unpredictable. In my mind, 4 teams does not a playoff make, a true playoff has to include a spot for the underappreciated darkhorse. Mostly, I'm selfish, I want the largest possible format, because it's more for me to enjoy. Finally, and always remember, I'm just a wiseacre, this Duck don't know nuttin,.. last year I thought Oregon was going to wax you guys.
I'm guessing terms vs semesters. http://registrar.uoregon.edu/calendars/academic?field_schedule=Fall+2012
Well, I guess you have to schedule football to meet everybody else's calendar but it really screws your students.
True. That's possible. If history is any indicator it will happen, but it will not happen very often. Just going back a couple of decades... 2005 would not have seen a SEC team in the final four. The highest team was UGA at #7, seasons end. 2000 mirrors the 2005 season (I guess that should be vice-versa) with Florida the highest at #7. 1993 depends on who you look at. The computer polls at that time had UF at #5. The Coaches had UF at #4. The AP had UF at #5 but had Auburn at #4 who couldn't have competed anyway. So, in a nutshell, the SEC would have eliminated its own twice, maybe three times. Care to look at how many times we'd have had two teams in the top four? Last year, 2009, 2008, an argument could be made for 2007's Georgia team to be in the final four based on schedule strength. 2006 would have two...
June 13, 2012, 6:58 PM ET CHICAGO -- The BCS commissioners and Notre Dame's athletic director say they made progress Wednesday on formulating college football's future postseason model, but emphasized the final decisions will come from school presidents who will consider multiple options. http://espn.go.com/college-football...ted-multiple-options-college-football-playoff
I'm curious. If they go forward with the top-4 playoff method, what if for example, like last season, LSU, bama, and arky all go 1, 2, 3 in the polls? What if that is the final poll? The rest of the country would shit a chicken.
