So i've already booked my hotels for gainesville, auburn, knoxville, and fayetteville and all the driving routes look pretty easy except fayetteville. Id rather not drive up to memphis and cut over (55-40). Anybody ever passed through Shreveport and taken state/US highways? Any other tips on the drive?
Well, for 2008 . . . US Hwy 71 takes you all the way from Shreveport to Fayette Nam. The road basically sucks in Louisiana, but Arkansas is upgrading portions of it to the future I-49 standards. Scenery in the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains are excellent, especeially in the fall.
GD, that road between Shreveport and Arkansas sucks ass. It's straight country with ****ty roads. Last time we went to a game in LR we came back through Junction City and Ruston. I'm not sure of the roads, but it was A LOT better. It's easier to get to Little Rock from I-30 through Texarkana though...
i went thru shreveport and texarkana yesterday. if you can handle the horrible road to texarkana, then its a breeze when you get to texarkana taking I 30 straight to little rock.
You only have about 40 to 50 miles from Shreveport to Arkansas line. The bad tihing is there is no easy way to get to Fayetteville. Unless you Fly.
i drive to LR a lot...the best way to go is through Ruston, El Dorado, etc. up 167, especially if you are heading from the dirty dirty...
Just remeber if you stop at a gas station and you hear banjos. DRIVE AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND DONT LOOK BACK!
