42 passes, about 5 ended ended up runs but pressure on russell forced him out of the pocket resulting in his big self being caught by a LB with relative ease. though intial call was a pass play.

    18 rushing plays called.

60 total plays, i think thats 70% pass plays called, 30% run on the money.

oh and the 2nd to last drive when we ran twice, the 2nd run play (hester) was a checkdown by russell. Jimbo said he called a pass but JR saw the linebacker dropping back and thought we'd have a seam to run through. good thinking i suppose but it didnt work.

We intercepted a pass and ran it to the Auburn 30 and got zero points from their turnover.
You have to capitalize on turnovers in football, the nature of the beast.

One positive I take from the game is that we had no turnovers from this game, It was one of the hardest hitting games I've ever seen.
How many turnovers did we have vs Arizona? 3
Yes, I am searching for positives because their is too much football left to be played.

I dont know about this scenario...but how many different times could we have attempted a field goal?? Might have been the difference in the game. I would hate to ramble on here about what ifs but...wouldnt have hurt to try it on 4th and 1 in the 1st quarter. I know Les would rather have gone for it and gotten it...would have shut those barners up. Who knows...its over and done with...time to move on.

Along those lines, how many penalties did we end up with? Seriously, it seemed like there were few.

I agree. Some of the punts from inside the 40 instead of either going for it or trying a FG seemed questionable to me. I think once we punted from the 33 yard line into the endzone for a net of 13 yards. I'm sorry but with our defense like it is I'll risk those 15 yards of field position for a 50% shot at 3 points.

I would like to take every chance against a solid D like Auburn's to get points.

There were three instances that we were in position to TRY an FG. Two would have been from 51 yrds and one would have been from 48 yrds.

None were easy kicks, but all were within Jackson's range.

The 48 yarder would have came on the play that Doucet was fouled but not fouled.

Looking at it now, had we kicked that field goal we would have been down by one. We kick off and our Defense holds, like they did anyway. JR drives just like he did and we kick it in to win instead of throwing on 4th down.

Yeah I know, lotta if's and I can't say I would have went about it that way, but the opportunity was there, and our D was rock solid.

I agree with not kicking the field goals. On the road, with our defense, play the field position game. My problem, as I have already posted twice, is when the field position game paid off, on our first possession and after the interception, we did not look to capitalize immediately and seize the opportunity when it was there.

On the road, I'll play the field position game all day, however, I also understand you can't sit back and wait for the defense to score or for a team like Auburn to fumble on their own goal line.

If only life was that easy. It's easy to say that 2 days after the actual now that every LSU fan has overanalyzed every aspect of the game. And that's assuming we hit a 48 or 51 yard FG, yes there was opportunity. But the window closes very fast when you play a defense like Auburn. We just weren't to sharp on offense. Anyways...I trust in Les, he's the head coach not us. We can only support the team from this point on, like a true fan would.
