Brignac is from St. Amant and not from Parkview.

How the heck does Southern not win the SWAC this year with all of that talent. They should have made a collge World series or two in the past 4 years. Anyone know how Weeks is doing in the minors?

I am stunned that Patterson or Stavinoha has not been selected as of Round 25. I mean, how in the hell is Ryan Reed of LSU Eunice, a junior outfielder selected in the 21st round, better than Patterson? I see no rhyme or reason to this draft except that maybe it is just a crap shoot on the 2nd day. Can anyone explain this to me?

A lot of times it has to do with potential. Patterson has experienced some of the best training he can from one of the best programs. Scouts may have felt he reached his peak. On the other hand, Lsu Eunice isn't as big of a program and Reed might have shining potential.

the reason is they can sign the high schoolers for less and build them in their system. if they are semi stars at college their signing money potential is higher and they want to get what they feel will be nearly equal talent for less. its all about $ as usual. Thats why scott boras who is the most hated agent proposes that any high schooler signed automatically gets 5 million signing bonus. Crazy, yes but it sure as hell would make these teams think twice going the easy route as opposed to signing an educated kid out of college.

Analyst expect Weeks to be in the majors by the fall. Southern has not gone to CWS for two reasons.
    1. Their hitters are not use to the level of pitching in the major conferences. It takes 3 or 4 at bats before they hit like they can and many times by then it's too late.
    2. Just as with any smaller conference team, they lack depth at pitching.

Southern's a very good team but for them to make it to the big time will be tough b/c of being a smaller school.
