Is LeBrandon Toefield a great running back?
Very good? Good? Above average? Average?

I think everybody would agree that these were great running backs:

    Jim Brown
    Herschel Walker
    Marcus Allen
    OJ Simpson
    Bo Jackson

Is LeBrandon Toefield great, like these guys, or still great but less great? What? what?

I don't think anyone could make that judgement yet. Give us 10 years and we'll know.

He does have the talent though.

I think he is a solid back. I think he has greatness in him, but he still has a lot of developing to do.

One LSU RB that had the potential to be great was Cecil "The Diesel" Collins. He was incredible to watch. He was fast, quick, and definitely a bruiser. He only played in a few games for the Tigers, but in those few, everyone forgot about Kevin Faulk. He gained 200+ yards in a few games too if i remember right. Its a shame he couldn't control his urges.

Its way too soon to tell since he has yet to play a single down in the NFL but I think that if he can stay free of injuries he will be a very good but not great RB.

It's hard to tell with the injuries he's suffered. Also, I've heard that our O-line coach the last few years wasn't the best and that's why Saban replaced him (is this true?). Toe seems to have an NFL RB type body and NFL RB's get injured a lot (especially Fred Taylor) so I think he'll have a chance to show his stuff. Toe should probably try to start absorbing the contact (at times) rather than dishing it out so much. Maybe all of his injuries are behind him. He was always a quick healer.

I think he's a good running back--but not great. However, I think he has potential to be better. Injuries have really hampered his ability. I honestly think another year of college ball would have really defined who, or more precisely, what kind of running back he really is. But on the flip side, another injury in college might really have hurt his pro career.

College running backs are really hard to judge. Kevin Faulk was a GREAT college running back. Cecil Collins COULD have been great college running back (if not for being a junkie and a moron). Dalton Hilliard was very good as both a college and pro running back and even Rondell Mealey was good....But outside of Hilliard, none of those guys have really made that huge of an impact on the pro level.

Toefield is really a project on the pro level.
