Completely unrelated to this thread, but "The Mole People" is among the most interesting books I've ever read. It's about the homeless that live underground in NYC, and offers a fascinating look at the underground mazes of NYC.
the mole people is completely made up. in fact i was reading about it recently: http://www.columbia.edu/~brennan/abandoned/mole-people.html that guy who wrote that is awesome, i have read all his stuff about abandoned stations. i was thinking about it last night at the last stop on the 6 before the train went empty into the abandoned but really awesome city hall station. red is actually incorrect there are very few unused tunnels and tracks. and jennifer toth is a total fraud.
Well I'll be damned! Still an interesting book, guess now I'll have to file it under "fiction." But very good fiction!! I'll have to spend some time at that Columbia website...forgotten-ny is one of the best sites on the web, and this looks similar.
Fox news is a conservative-leaning news agency that provides news and news analysis with a different perspective than most of the major news networks. That hardly classifies them as an American propaganda machine. If anyone does not like the slant they take on the news, then they can watch a news organization that has a slant more to their liking. I like the way Fox reports the news because they tend to be more positive, which means they report items of interest that are often left out of the other news networks. That's just me.
For the most part I find them to be as fair and more balanced than most other news media. That is not to say they do not slip up. The recent discovery of "WMD" found in Iraq is a good example. The weapons had degraded to the point that it was useless. Fox, in its analysis (separate from its hard news reporting) seemed to overlook that and made it sound more important than it was. Nonetheless, for the most part I have learned to trust Fox News more than the so-called major news organizations. I really think that term does not do justice to Fox which probably has a larger viewing pubic than the others.
Fair enough if Fox made the WMD example in this case more important than it was but at least they reported WMD was found in Iraq unlike the other networks. I would like to point out that WMD's were illegal in Iraq. I haven't read anywhere that it was ok for them to have WMD's after a certain date because they were harmless. I'm not saying anything about your post here, just made me think about the WMD's that are or were there. The opposition try and make light that some have been found while they claim its useless ignoring the UN and their corruption and the resolutions that were signed, ceasefire agreement.
Just a few few transit tunnels, but they are kind of cool. But there are many more abandoned utility, storm drain and sewer tunnels that nobody would go into but that could move flood water around. http://www.forgotten-ny.com/SUBWAYS/tunnel/tunnel.html http://wt.mit.edu/Subway/Tunnel/index.html http://ltvsquad.com/Missions/Tunnels/GCT/Madness.php http://fdelaitre.club.fr/Beach.htm http://www.gothamgazette.com/print/569
i love to read about that sort of stuff. if anyone is ever in new york and wants to go to the transit museum, email me, because i want to tag along.
