is it just me or did the offensive line win that 1-1 drill like 80% of the time? I liked the WRs too, and the way the QBs were coached...
1 on 1 it is much easier to block someone than to get around a blocker... especially in pass block... The defensive player has to beat the offensive player... the offensive player simply needs a tie or better.. he just has to guide the defense player's force away from the ball...
If the offensive line doesn't win the one on one battles about 90% of the time the offense will be in big trouble.
The OL has been dominating one of the SEC's best defenses in almost every practice. It's going to be fun this fall.
I set my DVR to record it and it didn't record for some reason. Luckily, I noticed about 10 minutes in.
Most impressive players that stood out to me off the top of my head: Chase Pittman - everytime he was on camera he was beating his man, including making Whitworth look silly. Sammy Joseph - he was all over his guy in every full speed drill I saw. Chevis Jackson - no wonder he's running with the 1's, he was like glue and showed good anticipation and a knack for knocking the ball down. All QBs on the slant - they were all very accurate on this ball...the fades were pretty horrible, but then again Joseph and Jackson were covering the guys when the balls weren't thrown out of bounds. Bowe and Lafell were making a lot of catches, both on good passes and balls off the mark. Bowe is damned big...NFL...
WOW!!!!! You must have had some type of expanded coverage that I didn't get because an NFL scout couldn't have come to those conclusions watching the little snippets that they showed on the ESPN I got. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
