Is it possible that we have gone through August practice with no major injuries?

They say he can play on Saturday, so I am calling it a minor injury. He missed enough practice to lose a starting job, but we are going to see a lot of that this season. We are in a very rough league. You have to be deep in the SEC.

It's the season-ending injuries that discourage me.

I also wonder if he's really hurt and Miles is just smoke screening things, initial reports did seem pretty bad.

I worry more about that injury that he has said nothing about.

With Thomas, they initially thought that the injury would require immediate surgery and he would miss 3 or 4 months. But when his doctors said that it needs therapy right now, he started practicing again. He will probably get the surgery after the season. How much he plays will likely depend on how much pain he can play with.

and no major drama, ala JJ, TM7. USCw is taking over that role this year, thankfully.

You're right. He practiced at C, but never played there in a game.

what is so damn disconcerting about Welter, besides the obvious EXTREME lack of athleticism, is that he is technically unsound

I am trying my damnest to think of another situation in which a player who is so obviously outclassed on the field is allowed to play for simply knowing the playbook and the calls on the field.

    Izzy,

I think we're all in agreement. He doesn't pass the eyeball test and he appears to be out of position on most plays.

After seeing some of these young LBer's play, I'm still not sure why Welter is out there.

But I honestly can't sit here and pretend that I know more about Linebacker play than Chief does. But dang.....

#31 is the best we've got?
