whoa! Damn Dude! I was there and sitting right above where our team ran out and I would have to agree that is exactly how it went down!
Great post! I teared up just reading about other people tearing up hearing pregame. Now how many other schools can match up to that!
Powerful Stuff! I get goosebumps everytime I hear the song. :helmet: :lsug: :champs: ldskule: :tigerhead  :geaux: :usaflagwa
Hey guys. As much as we love being at the game. It is you guys who make the game fun for us. We love being the "cheer leaders" for LSU. I wish everyone of you could have one chance to be in Pregame and see it from bandmembers perspective. To know that you can send 90000+ into a frenzy with 4 notes. It gives me goosebumps everytime i step foot on the field. If it didn't, I wouldn't deserve to be there. Thankyou fans, for making gameday what it is.
When I was about 7 yrs old at my first game in 1985 (Wichita St.), I asked my dad why everyone goes crazy when they play those four notes. He said he couldn't really explain it but hopefully one day I'd understand. The meaning of that song seems to grow more and more each year for me. My dad bought my ticket for the Sugar Bowl and must have mentioned his excitement 20 times that weekend for when the Golden Band from Tigerland would play pregame in the Superdome. When it finally happened, it was everything I'd hoped for and more. When the band was marching out onto the field to that single drum, I will never forget my dad acting like a little kid saying, "This is it, Lou, this is it!!!" On another note, I wasn't able to make the LSU-Auburn game in 2001 but ESPN had an awesome shot of the band going down the hill. Since the game was later in the year due to 9/11, it was already dark and quite a scene. I need to dig up that tape just for that and the first few minutes of the game. Tubby's face after the onside kick was classic.
I thought I was the only one. Man,the first time I heard pregame and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up I had no idea what was going on. It is almost primal the way it gets a person ready for BATTLE. The band is every bit as important as the fans and the football team itself. I want to thank all the band members, past and present, for the hard work they put into putting on one heck of a show. It wouldn't be the same without you. :thumb:
for many years I had no idea what they called the song, so when descrbing it i just said the "Daa DaDAA DA" song.
