The player that comes to mind is Bob Sanders. Same size for the most part, and we all know how injury prone Sanders is and has been. That would be my concern. The 5'8" players tend to be running backs. Not many are DBs. But if anyone were to make it big in the NFL with such a diminutive stature, it will be TRex.
No I missed it. I had to drive one of my friends home cause he had too much to drink. I got up just as they were about to start singing.
Agree. I made the comment last night about the turnovers not being accidental. You can see the coaching. Our players reach in and pop the ball out. Ball carriers not holding it high and tight are in trouble. Best thing is we don't do this at the risk of missing the tackle. It's clear they're taught to tackle first, strip second. Seems like common sense but I've seen teams try to strip first and miss tackles.
The thing that stands out about t-rex to me is how smart he plays. I mentioned this to tirk last night when he told me he reminded him of laron landry. Landry was always good for at least two 15 yd roughing penalties a game. T-rex doesn't draw these.
The tackling was great last night. Bruce Feldman posted a stat last night that was great: The LSU defense was on the field for 82 snaps last night and didn't allow a single play over 18 yards. That speaks to the incredible open field tackling last night.
It definitely was spectacular. I figured we'd at least give up a big play or two. I bet the Ducks/Duck fans are still scratching their heads in awe. I was pumped with our defensive play.
Mo Claiborne was the one I remember missing lmj late trying to tackle him high. Not much to complain about.
funny you bring that up, that 18 yard play was a missed tackle I am almost certain by one of our DBs on a short pass, the only reason it went for 18 yards....pissed me off, we hadn't really missed a tackle the entire night up until then
It seems like I remember seeing LSU do this not too long ago. I echo the sentiments here - Tyrann Matthieu is awesome.
