We were there too and I remember walking back down Podras with all the chanting LSU fans after the game.......I was physically and mentally drained. I felt like I had just played 4 quarters.
I was only a kid but still, the proudest ever may have been the 81 Bama game at Legion field. We hadn't beaten Bama in 11 years folks. We absolutetly dominated them for 4 quarters that day. Michael Brooks and company were an absolute terror. Bear said after the game that one of his teams had never been so physically dominated before, EVER! Made me proud. Sidebar: (We lost the next week to Ole Miss) :sob:
Also when LSU! played Florida when Florida was number one in the Nation. We were at Talladega and watching it on a big screen tv outside, there were probably about 200 people standing around watching the game by the time it was over.
1 -- Sugar Bowl over OU 2 -- Warren Morris 3 -- Every time Cecil The Diesel touched the ball (the FOOTBALL.) 4 -- Surprisingly, JR to Doucet v. ASU is way up here too.
Pretty specific proudest moment for me..... On January 4, 2004, the walk down Poydras to the French Quarter with my two brothers, wife, and about 40,000 other Tiger Fans.
Did everyone forget about the BlueGrass Miracle? Warren Morris in '96 is definitely my #1. Edit: Forgot what the title was. Yeah, thats not anything to be proud of, beating Kentucky in the last second.
Not necessarily looking for the greatest sports plays in the thread though. Beating Kentucky in football on a last second miracle play doesn't exactly make you proud.
The victory over OU in the Sugar Bowl. A close second was returning to Tiger Stadium in 2003 for the UF game. That was my first time back in Death Valley since I was a student in the mid '60s.
1) The Earthquake Game, very emotional 2) CJ & Ricky Blanton beating Georgetown & UNLV 3) The Baseball Championship years, football season was so tough then. 4) Beating # 1 Florida in Tiger Stadium, see reason above. Anytime I hear the name Pete Maravich, unbelievable what he accomplished! Records will probably never be broken even with the 3 point line. The National Championship Game was nice but to me that was all gravy after the tough years. I was just happy we won the SECCG!
