Again, "MISTAKE" (singular). I believe you used the word "Mistakes", and I only saw one. Call it a mulligan. :thumb:
Exactly. Until we established a passing threat (i.e. while Lee looked like doo-doo). I just don't see any reason to regress at this point. Some of the throws that he was making (that you mentioned seeing on SC) just don't happen by accident. I watched the re-play as well, slowing/breaking down his passes. That guy has tremendous field vision at times. Of course, he tries to force some bad passes, too. But that will pass (no pun intended) with experience. But his ball placement and arm strength are spectacular, and we will need those qualities to win big games in the conference.
i think we most all agree on this but its that nurturing thing you have to do with young players, especially qb. if you throw him into the fire against an SEC team and he goes jamie howard on you, you now have a mental mess on your hands with a kid thats gun-shy the rest of the year and maybe his career. the coaching staff will play it by ear and manage it carefully. all systems are go if he doesnt regress but thats not likely. he will be removed depending on the game situation when hatch needs to come in and run the pistol or just talk to jlee on the sideline about a coverage--giving him a break to slow things down. this happens in the nfl where guys regress week to week. it will happen with lee as well. just part of the maturing of a qb.
The Auburn guy made a great (and a little lucky) play. The other team wants to win too. I think you're being a little rough on Lee. We were all ready to kill him when it happened, but he redeemed himself. Are you suggesting Alem should be similarly chastised for his PF?
Critical, no I wouldnt say critical. Im just saying what I saw on that play he hesitated, the guy read the hesitation and anticipated the screen pass. No luck involved their, when he pumped that first time and went back to the Keiland with the pass, the guy was ready for it. Yes, Alem should be chastised, even though it was a close call. You have to be mindful that you are in Jordan-Hare, the home of home cooking when it comes to the refs. I still give Lee all the credit for coming back and playing a great second half. But he still has some growing to do, which he will do because he has all the tools to become a great QB. Thats my opinion, you are welcome to disagree with it. Even Miles said that we didnt play a perfect game and some things we still have to work on. Thats good coaching.
A lot of great QB's have made mistakes in Jordan-Hare. Not a lot of them win. Lee's in good company with nowhere to go but up. I still wouldnt' mind having Flynn back, though (for now)!
my thoughts, all of which have been covered.... 1. there is no controversy. there are two qbs, both deserving. 2. one qb has a concussion and that must be taken into consideration, not just for this game, but long term. another hit like he took saturday and he could be out a hell of a lot longer. 3. we have a 3rd qb that, imo, needs to get some reps in case 1 or 2 go down. 4. we have a hc and oc that care about what is best for the players and best for the program. and i trust em. 5. there is no controversy.
