What she said. Lee was brought back in because of necessity. No-one knows how well Hatch would have performed had he been able to play the 2nd half. Leave the QB decision to the people who see these guys on a daily basis and not just a few hours on Saturday night. :geauxtige
that may be it, but id bet it was more the deliberate change in play selection by CGC. he said that at halftime they knew they could hit some long routes. if lee can hit receivers in stride under pressure like against auburn even half the time---IT'S GOLD, JERRY. defenses will not be able to play man against lafell and byrd and cant put a LB on dickson. so i think we'll see tons of zone and cover 2 and the running game will dominate. Ds will have to pick their poison. i imagine either UF will think they can bring better pressure on Lee (maybe from the inside--he seemed too comfortable firing from the pocket. on the run may be a different story) or they will put in some serious zone disguises.
I'm not at my pc so i cant quote, but in reference to Nukems post#16 and Mauck, I was compareing Maucks win to LEEs win before they both were starters, not comparing him to Hatch.
"Controversy" is in the eye of the beholder. One fan's two-quarterback system is another fan's quarterback controversy. Fans like you will stick to the two-quarterback conviction no matter what because you truly believe in the coach. I. E.: Fans in this category will assume that no matter how badly one of the guys screws up (God forbid), he must be better than the other guy because the coaches put the ball in his hands. Other fans will question every little thing that goes wrong and assume that the proverbial "other guy" could have done better, because they believe in a particular player. I. E.: Lee's fans will throw the remote through the TV this weekend if Hatch starts and screws up...and vice-versa. It's fair to say that depending on who you talk to, there is either a system or a controversy brewing.
No controversy, we have 2 good QB's. I think Lee will be the starter (because as I heard from a wise man.....Football is merrit based") and Hatch will come in as a good change of pace. Sounds like an opportunity, not a problem. :geauxtige
I also tend to believe Lee will start. Beyond Lee's magical turnaround last Saturday, Hatch may be relegated to secondary emergency use simply due to his concussion. That may lead to Lee finishing off his bid for the starter and seizing the opportunity by the throat. Hatch is a good runner, but our running game doesn't need any help. If we didn't have a running back worth his scholly or first-class receivers wasting away, then I'd say by all means play Hatch. That's not to say I'll be angry about the coaches' decision, though...whatever they choose. You have to believe that they know what's best, and that there must be a reason, a'la why Holiday hasn't returned punts until just recently.
I definately think that Lee shows way more potential than Hatch. I think if we were to pick a time to give Lee a chance to get a rhythm with the offense I think the Mississippi game would be it. He had a great second half against Auburn and I think the only reason he threw the pick in the first half was the constant swapping QB between him and hatch. I think he felt like he needed to assert himself and make some great plays to get that starting spot and so he ended up forcing the ball. The second half he came out knowing that Hatch was going to be out the rest of the game and he quickly got a rhythm to his passing. I think if we give Lee the start in the game this weekend he will pick up where he left off with Auburn. Now am I saying he is going to never make mistakes...no he is a freshman, but we have a much better chance at the NC with him in than Hatch.
 How bout this... if you are unhappy with the current QB situation maybe you should spend years working yourself up from a graduate assistant of a well respected coaching icon, serve as assistant coach at a few high ranking schools, be named head coach at a less than stellar school. Bring their football program up from the depths of hell and be considered for the LSU job. After over twenty five years or so of leg work maybe they will let you call the shots on the field. Maybe... :hihi:
I think Lee is good, not great, Hatch good not very good. I would also like to say something else but the pic at the bottom of your post has made me lose my train of thought........Blah Blah Blah........who cares. I guess it's all in your definition of Good.....I sound like a God Damn politician.
