Les surely didn't do much to try to keep him, publicly mentioning the other two green quarterbacks and never Rettig. Now we don't have a single drop-back passer in the mix and we are thin as hell. This is not good. One injury and we are in a pickle.

I agree, but it's hard to ask 4 and 5 star QBs to ride the pine. They almost always end up going elsewhere to get their shot.

LSU redshirt freshman backup quarterback Hayden Rettig confirmed via phone Saturday that he will transfer to another school. Rettig was the No. 3 quarterback on the Tigers roster behind sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris.

When contacted by NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, Rettig said he was transferring but would not elaborate further. One possible destination is Boston College, where his brother, Chase, was a three-year starter from 2011-13.

Rettig played sparingly in LSU's spring game. He attempted two passes and completed one for 47 yards. He also ran one time for no gain while Jennings and Harris split most of the playing time. A 6-feet-3, 205-pounder from Los Angeles, Hayden Rettig was a four-star recruit out of Cathedral High School.

Rettig is the second LSU quarterback to transfer this year. Redshirt junior Stephen Rivers announced earlier that he would transfer and is leaning to Vanderbilt where he will have two seasons of eligibility.

Rettig's departure leaves LSU with two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, Jennings and Harris. The only other quarterbacks listed on the roster are junior Brad Kragthorpe, sophomore Brandon Bergeron and freshman Jake Clise, all walk-ons.

Can't say I blame him it was obvious he's not in the plans anytime soon. Good luck to him

I've counted no less than 30 QB's that have transferred this passed year. One school to another. Could be worse, Texas Tech lost 3 QB's.

When I heard Kragthorpe was impressing more than him on more than a few occasions this Spring I figured this was how it would play out.

I would think if LSU lost their #1 & #2 we would be in a pickle regardless...

Harris and jennings seem to be the guys they like , i like harris a bit more because i think he offers more in the passing game than jennings. Only time will tell
