I am really glad that Miles is taking the stance at this point that Perriloux will not play under any circumstance in this game. It will be a waste of this season for RP if they play him now. If he wasn't going to redshirt, he could have gotten some playing time against Mississippi State, North Texas, and Appalachian State.

I think our QB situation over the next few season will be about as good as we've had at LSU during my lifetime at least. JaMarcus Russell for one, maybe two more years, RP for 3, maybe 4 more, we shouldn't have to worry about that position for a while. (I'm talking about starting, I realize you always need depth)

I hear a lot of people say how RP was "promised" playing time etc...

Well here is something: he WAS told he would play... but it was Ryan who went to the staff after 3-4 games and said he thought this was the best thing to do...

Publicly all Miles told RP was that he'd be given a shot to compete for the starting job. He competed and couldn't pass up JR or MF. We never really had a chance to play him early in the season because of the N. Texas game being pushed back. When RP didn't get in for the Moo. U. game, his chances of playing this year were about zero unless both JR & MF had gotten hurt.

A part of me wants to see Flynn play an entire game. I'd like to see what he can really do against a quality team.

I like Russell and I believe this is his team next year. But I have to admit that I had a Mauck flashback when Flynn lined up in the shotgun, faked the handoff, then ran the ball. Also had a Mauck flashback against Ole Miss when Flynn threw an INT for 6.

Of course, the down side to this is if he lights it up. I don't think we need a QB controversy. But there is a small part of me that wonders if Flynn could be better than Russell, who I think is pretty damn good.

    Just thinking out loud...

So were you in on the conversation between Les & RP?( I didn't think so). You have second information from one side of the conversation(RP's). He knew the qb situation coming in and chose to come to LSU anyways. Hopefully he but his arse in the spring and summer & get some meaningful snaps next year.

I agree. Matt Flynn was pretty highly touted in his own right coming out of high school. If JaMarcus isn't going to play, then Flynn would get snaps with the first team for almost a whole month. So I think this will be a pretty good indicator of Flynn's abilities. I'm confident that Flynn will play well given the proper preparation.

JaMarcus is still my guy at quarterback, but I'm never against having another QB play well. This kind of controversy seems better to me than the Davey vs. Booty or Mauck vs. Randall battles.

On the status of Jessie Daniels ...

"He ended up hurting himself after the Arkansas game in a celebration. We really didn't think it would be that serious. The swelling persisted (on his ankle) and went down later in the week."

:angryfire This kind of injury just kills me. It should not have happened.

If you RTFA, you would see that Miles is speculating who'll play QB if Matt Flynn goes down (Assuming JR can't play either). Christ...How could you think that Miles would start anyone but Flynn?

From TFA - "Matt Flynn, who finished the game in Russell's absence, would be the starter in the Peach Bowl. Miles said he's not sure who would play quarterback if Flynn were hurt."

I would love to know why you are arguing with me, when all I said was that he asked for a redshirt this year... :hihi:
