He's slotted in lane 8 at the end for the finals. He posted the 5th fasted time in the semi finals. Is this a good slot or did he get screwed? I don't know that much about lane assignments.
lane 1 is worst because of the strain it puts on their legs in the turn (from what I have heard). the winners of the heats get their choice i think and prefere the center lanes.
I use to do track in high school and I can tell you lane 8 SUCKS. It depends on your style of running though. I use to like to pick off runners and pass them thats what made me run. If I ever had that outside lane nobody would be in front of me unless they had already passed me, and it would throw me off my race. Hopefully he just goes out fast and never gives up the lead.
The middle lanes are the fastest, lanes 1 and 2 and worst and 8 and 7 are not too far behind 1 and 2.
Katt is correct, lane 8 is bad because you cannot see the other staggers and you really don't know how you are doing as opposed to the other guys unless someone passes you and that isn't good. I would have thought he would be in lane 3 or 6 to tell you the truth. The best thing about 8 is the curve is not as tight as the other lanes and maybe Bennie prefers it because of that.
I don't think the race will be shown live on any of the channels currently broadcasting. Can anyone confirm this? I realize a taped recording will be shown on NBC tonight but would like to see it live. Go Bennie!
