How come if Jerry Sevin quits, Saban gets another scholarship, but when Stormile Swift quits for the NBA we lose that scholarship?

likewise with Shawson Johnson, Milton Ambres, etc.

That was a condition of the Lester Earl probation. The NCAA tried to kill the LSU program without meteing out the Death Penalty. The NCAA Rep first stated that they would not force LSU to fall below a certain number of scholarships. I can't remember if that number was nine or eleven. However, once Stromile left and Roland and Temple were injured, they refused to allow Brady to replace these players. Maybe they took notice of what Brady did with Stromile and decided that we weren't being punished enough so the increased the penalty.

Simply put, the NCAA hated Dale Brown with a passion due to everything he said about it over the years, the way he skirted the rules by hiring dads and HS coaches as assistants, etc. They wanted to make LSU pay dearly for having Brown as the coach all those years. they investigated him repeatedly and finally found a smoking gun so they lowered the hammer on us. They are very vindictive.
